like the title says. Ive posted about this before, some people wondered if maybe my scale is broken, but im starting to doubt it. I'm fully counting calories in everything besides tooth paste and a multivitamin. I still have a good sized deficit, its not what it used to be before i broke my foot (1600) but more around 800-1000 deficit now (because i also started treatment and need one "full meal" a day). I think my metabolism is just stopped. What can I do? Ive heard having a cheat day can help but im afraid if i have a cheat day ill gain and i wont lose afterwards. I cant really dip below 700 because of the meal plan and also for health reasons. I NEED to lose at least a little more before my meal plan is added on to and it becomes impossible. Im so stressed. (right now with the plan I can still eat like 700-900 a day). I've heard green tea can help? More water? I've been adding more exercise. I literally dont understand at ALL why i havent lost at this point, ive never had such a long lasting plateau while still restricting every day.

i've recently got out of a plateau myself and this is what helped me

1. i increased my calorie intake for a few days (around 3/4 days helped me a lot)

2. keep hydrated (if you have more than your share of sodium it can cause your body to retain water)

3. change up your routine bc your body is probably used to it

4. also having a full 8 hours of sleep is important bc even stress can lead to weight gain

hope this helped

Perhaps you have been retaining water, maybe try for one or two days drinking a LOT of water and green tea and see if that helps with flushing water out? Else I don’t really know...you can also try one very high calorie day (try to stay low on salt)

thank you!! Im going to try all of this for the next 3 days. When you say "increase calorie intake" do you mean to a full TDEE or just increase by a couple hundred?

i usually eat less than 500 and for those 3/4 days i ate around 900/1000 which worked for me but i can't promise it'll work for everyone but just try it out and if it doesn't work just eat a full TDEE

im going to bump up my water a ton today but I talked to an ED specialist recently who actually warned me not to drink over 70 ounces a day because it can flush our electrolytes if done too quickly and cause heart attacks (he said girls accidentally do this a lot?) Ill also add green tea in since i havent had green tea since the summer. I dont think my salt is too high but ill keep an eye on it to be sure. thanks!

Yikes! I drink way over 70 oz of liquids a day...

Totally feel your pain with the plateau thing. Was just looking over my logs and I am the EXACT same weight to the decimal point that I was on Oct. 1st. I spent the whole month between 111 and 111.8...and I never went above or below 1000-1200 although my TDEE should (according to all the calculators) be around 1600-1800. So I've decided my metabolism must have adjusted...

But I've been doing a lot of reading on this, and yes...it seems that eating more (almost TDEE) for at least 5-7 days can kick-start the metabolism and also makes your body release extra water retention since it is less stressed/less cortisol. Sleep also for the same reasons. I want to try it, but I know I'll gain a lot the first few days from extra food weight/glycogen stores. Scary!

If you figure it out, please let me know! :)
