UK members - Holland and Barratt weight management?

I'm currently single-handedly keeping UK shop Holland and Barratt in business (or that's how it feels!) and I wondered what other people's experiences of their supplements was. I know there's a forum for diet pills, but nobody ever replies to anything I post unless it's in here (ya, I know - take the hint right...?!).

I'm 35 now and although I do a lot of running around after my little one, I worry that I will have already screwed my metabolism so I'm on this sort of metaphorical treadmill that keeps getting faster and faster...

For the last few days I've been taking the following combination:

  • 8 of these own brand fat metaboliser (with kola nut, ursi, green tea, L-carnitine) tablets split into 2 doses, one early morning and one midday/lunchtime ish (I've taken these before at much higher doses and never had any odd effects, and some decent weight loss)
  • 4 of these raspberry ketones with green coffee bean extract, split again into 2 batches
  • ~8 of these XLS Medical max strength per day, 2/3 at a time with any meal over 200 cals. I think I take these more as a mental reassurance, plus there's definitely been 'expulsion' of some fat when combined with a very fatty meal on a couple of occasions

Now I don't know if it's the combination of all of these or just the 2nd one with the raspberry ketones doing it, but I've had non-stop hunger from the second I wake up. Normally I can go most of the day quite happily without anything, but I'm struggling to get even to 11am without eating - and I mean almost my calorie limit before lunch time and as if my life depended on it. It feels horribly out of control. I feel a bit sweaty and twitchy on it too.

I just wanted to give my metabolism a bit of a kick because I've been heavily restricting for a long time now and I'd not seen any decent loss for a fair few weeks, but I'm terrified that maybe I'm going to start gaining if I keep going over my 1000 a day limit like this.

Anyone else used this combo of raspberry ketones with green coffee bean and had any weird effects?

I've never found any products to work for me tbh... My metabolism is ruined so I have to restrict to below 700 and fast a couple days a week to see any weight loss it seems... The raspberry ketones at least make burping taste nice lol!

Sorry I'm not much use! Ps - Holland and barrett do rip u off a lot - I find their dosages are quite low (omega 3!) and I order stuff from different online retailers.

Wait am I reading this right, that's a LOT of pills, even if you took one of each pill in the same day! You're not even meant to drink coffee while taking raspberry ketones, it said on the instructions for two of mine... Not worth the heart / organ damage, look after yo'self

It is quite a lot - I got desperate!

I have a benign arrhythmia from when I used to take ephedrine, but I get my heart checked a lot and it pretty much ticks along fine. I drink energy drinks and whole caffetieres of coffee so I figured the ketones can't be that bad...

Do they really have that much of an effect? It definitely feels like some kind of thermogenesis is happening.

I've tried their diet pills, honestly nothing of theirs works. I do lie H&B for their food though, they have lots of low cal stuff that keeps me going (even if they are so high priced).

Holland & Barrett are over-priced. You can get some good deals in the penny sale but that's all. I tend to buy my super-food powders off the internet and luckily where i live there is another health store opposite Holland & Barrett which is much cheaper.

I tried the raspberry ketones - they just gave me gas. I took them before food and after food but it didn't make any difference. It was quite nice to have raspberrry flavoured burps though

I've stopped sweating and feeling hungry now - maybe it was the Relentless can...

Hey - go easy!!! I had the H&B fat metabolisers, (2 a day) combined with 2 H&B raspberry ketones a day, plus some coffee and there were 2 pro plus in there too (all on the same day) I was at work, long shift and on day 5 of a fast. OMG I will never forget what happened next. I was sat in the break room and it just happened, like a trump you couldn't prevent.....only it wasn't exactly a trump. It was only a small amount, and the break room was right next to the loo....and I work in a clothes shop so a trusted friend who thought my period had come with a artery slit force went to go purchase me some new essentials.....jeeeezzzzz that was my worst ED moment. All the poorly timed passing out...fineeeee. Accidental overhearing of purging at a friends house....fineeeeeee. Dire laxative cramps....whatevvvssss...but (slightly) shitting myself at work...OH MY! I look back and laugh, but geeeeee. Caffeine overdose. Big time.

No seriously, people have died from abusing pills like these. e.g. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2866843/Woman-died-taking-overdose-raspberry-ketone-slimming-pills.html

Don't exceed the doses on medication, they're there for a reason! At best it will just make you seriously ill.

I know, I've been to A&E more than once because of diet pills in the past. I'm not taking them all at once though. I've cut down to one in the morning and 3 in the afternoon now (3 of the ones that don't have ketones or caffeine in)

No. Holland and Barrett are awful there products don't even work. I'd suggest trying natural beauty slimming there products are amazing. I use the teatoX when I feel the need x

Mate, this is an immense amount of shit you are taking. And why... To boost the metabolism... No no no no no. For 1... The xls shit is gonna eventually make your arse leak and when you least expect it... 2) that amount of fat metaboliser is gonna end up subjecting you to palpatations that you will end up in hospital thinking your having a heart attack...

OK.. My experience. I severely restrict. 500 cals or less. I'm no way advocating that at all. It's not good and this is the way I am. However as a result of this my metabolism fucked up so I wasn't losing and it was causing more fear and upset.

What I also suffered was terrible constipation and that then became a lax issue. Which again you can't afford to get into if you are not using them now. Do not go down that route please.

What I did do was this

I'm vegan. I can't change my intake.. That's me. So I take 100mg magnesium citrate when I wake. With a chewable 500mg calcium tablet.
I am fuckin my bones up by not eating so I have to try.

Then because of my exercising and restricting I drink water.. With 1000mg vit c and zinc in because being low of nutrients intake my immune system is gonna be shit.

I during lunch time take 1 x sea kelp tablet. After about an hour 1 x multi vit vegan tab.
Drinking water throughout the day and snacks mid morning till about 2 maybe 3 that's when I stop my intake.

A 2nd 1 x magnesium citrate tablet is taken and 2nd calcium tablet.

Before bed the last magnesium tablet.

Women need about 320mg magnesium daily. This will regulate bowel movements and keep you strong. The sea kelp contains iodine to boost your metabolism also and will kick start it. I have found it does work. And works well.
The calcium.. Well I'll know when I'm 60 maybe. I'm 42 mate. I get these fro h and b. Not all their shit is crap but their weight management is a bit flowered up. I've tried it.

I've started now to take a vegan protein powder. At least get all those things you're taking out of the equation and try giving yourself a bit of a chance. With less poisness crap. You can make some really good low cal protein shakes.. Fill up and still be low cals if you are not wanting to eat or are low restricting.

The rasp keystones don't work. The fat metabolisers if not used properly.. And you are not using them properly will make you feel hungry and won't work. Besides they are more for people who need to lose 30% body fat.
If you want some help with protein powder shout up.
