running injury frustration

i just recently injured my left leg, shin splints...
i'm quite upset about it because i bought a gym membership, and now i can't even use it because running is impossible with this leg.
i have a thing where i have to burn off every bite of food i eat; and i can't do that now, so i just haven't been eating, y'know?
anyways... does anyone have tips on how to make a running injury heal faster so i can get back to the gym? i'm icing it n stuff already.
thanks!

Can't rush it unfortunately and you will heal slower because you are starving yourself.

Massage therapy will be helpful in speeding up (the painful, sport injury kind. Not the relaxing nice kind)

New shoes, (the glue and rubber breaks down after about a year. So if your running shoes are older then a year they are no goo)

If that doesn't help, you might look into orthotics.

Heat on the shin part will loosen the muscle.

Stretch your shin by pointing your toe down towards the floor like a ballerina and toward the midline. Stretch is felt on outside of shin. Hold minimum 30 seconds or your waisting your time.

And if you do work out, no inclines or hill work on your runs. It agrivates this.
