It's easy to restrict, but the second I eat a bit more I lose it.

I restrict my calories most days, not super low but to around 1100. Then I have one day where I try to eat 1800. The thing is, when I have the high day I tend to just lose it. I somehow don't have the ability to just eat a normal amount of food and stop. It's either eat only low cal diet type foods or else I just binge. Yesterday I went over 2,000 because I ate at a Chinese restaurant. And that led to me getting 20 piece nuggets from Mcdonalds. I'm wondering if it's the quantity of the food or the type of food that is making me lose control like this. What do y'all think? Is it quantities or certain foods/processed/maybe cooked a certain way that turn a normal meal into a binge? Is it possibly just best to stop having the high days and just bump up all my calories and exercise a lot? I'm seriously thinking of doing this, which would make me oh so healthy I suppose.

Could be the type. I'm a damn endless pit when I eat your typical horrible for you foods, but sit me in front of healthier food and I tend not to binge at all (Except PopChips. God, I love those.). You could definitely go for the no high days, it'll help your body get into the routine you want it to. I know I do a lot better just taking the high days completely away. If all else fails, wait like 20 minutes (A good little show on Netflix helps.) and most of the time, the hunger usually goes away.

For me personally I'm the same way. If I stick to what I plan I'm totally fine but the second I take a bite of something outside of my plan I lose all control. I feel like it's all or nothing. I think it's the type of food honestly. If you feel like you've already fucked up the day you just get into that mindset of "might as well eat everything anyways". It's seriously the dumbest logic but when you get in that mindset it's completely logical and makes sense. But that's just me.

I feel you so bad. It's either all or nothing.

It sucks.

I'm the same. If I make a plan, I can stick to it, but one little thing that isn't planned or is more calories than I thought, and I just lose it. I consider that day 'ruined' and then I just binge because it's 'ruined'. What logic.

While reading this all I could think about was- "Go big or go home" , which is an awful saying in this case, but it cracked me up because I do this all the time :D
Last week during school I was just fine but the weekend hit and I decided to try to eat like a regular person and instead binged on everything!

Anyways, I think you should try light foods like soups, lean meats and vegetables because that way you feel full faster. I know the feeling of no control but at least this way, your body will be working against your brain to prevent you from eating more. Also, squats burn a lot of calories and since you're restricting your calories really low, you won't gain muscle or anything.
Oh and I've heard that drinking water between every bite really helps!

I have been eating 2000-2300 call but sadly that is pretty good for me. I have had binges as big as 6,000 calories! So staying around 2000 has helped me a lot but I am slowly starting to decrease my calories.

It's the same with me. I'm fine restricting, but as soon as I eat something out of line or too much, or I don't feel the hunger and just feel nothing, it's binge territory. It either needs to be restriction or b/p for me, not both, so eating more is actually worse for me.

I'm still in school and I only have lunch Monday's and Wednesdays so I don't really have people offering me food very often. Also, I pretend to love food and eating in General whenever I'm at school (so that people think I eat a lot at home). Also, everybody knows I have allergies and never really accept food so they don't really try, sometimes just out of politeness. When I get home I'll have an apple or something to sooth my stomach (as it keeps growling) and then I'll have a small dinner (hopefully before 6) with my parents. I'm human and binge like everybody else but I've found that eating filling foods like soups (more liquid than calories) make you feel full but don't add the burden of extra calories. Also, I keep trying to incorporate fruits as desserts instead of sugary sweets so that I don't crave them as much- which is really effective after a while! Hope I helped!!

Oh and one thing that I forgot to say- Don't deny yourself a treat every now and then because then you'll be less likely to binge.

I know this sounds like I'm giving advice to be more "ana" but honestly, we're all in the same position, and if you don't get it here you'll look elsewhere anyways so... Yeah :)

I do the same. When I am fasting, everything is fine. But if I just eat a teeny tiny thing...that's it. I ruined my fast so I might as well eat the entire house.

omg you nailed my behavior right on the head. I can be so good and then I go one step too far and it just keeps going. Sometimes its even on all healthy foods. I can't buy certain things like these low carb tortillas that I LOVE - only 60 cals and 4 net carbs, but I have one and then I want another and another. Trying to teach myself to just stop, but its hard.

So I try to just not start and plan accordingly before shit gets out of hand .

I can't account for that reaction all the time, but you mentioned chinese and a lot of restaurants use msg, which is proven to decrease satiation and increase appetite. When researchers want to study obese mice, they use msg to induce obesity.

What might be happening the other times is that you're body suddenly starts think "oh shit, we're getting food? Fuck yes." and appetite increases because it knows you're going to restrict again. Although, it could be types of food as well.....more carb and sugar is going to also cause an increase in appetite. There's also a psychological component....you're brain feels deprived, you "indulge" and it tips the scales so to speak. I'm not sure if I'm making sense lol.

Anyways.....good luck and stay safe.

Today's plan WAS to eat like...500. But I eat one piece of sushi and suddenly I've eaten a whole tray of sushi. And then I'm still hungry. If I manage a whole day without overeating I won't binge for a while but if i fuck up a restricting day i binge til I'm numb.

In a weird way I quite like fasting- I feel like i am in control of my ownactions and I feel more in tune with myself. I just have to avoid family members and other people in case they trigger me to binge. Pisses me off. Life doesn't always revolve around eating.
Wanna know something? I actually hate food. It's just something to give me energy or something I crave when I want something sweet when I'm binging. I don't get the hype over baking or cakes or cupcakes or whatever. Cracks me up.
