I love pacing but I HATE CALLUSES 😭😭😭

Any fellow pacers in here?

I usually do 15+k steps in a circle in my room, it's soothing and a good way to keep my cardiovascular health up (especially in the cold/heat), and it's so much quieter than the treadmill (my parents do have one but if they hear me using it for over two hours every day they'll start to get nosey hahaha). For the secrecy issue I also can't wear shoes, only thick socks (since I pace late at night I don't want to disturb anyone's sleep either).

On the downside I've started developing an absolutely EVIL callus on my turn point (top left of my left heel, since I always walk in a clockwise direction) 😭😭😭

I've put large bandaids on the key friction points and under my socks, and I moisturise/exfoliate/use balms/massage them as often as I can, so there's not a lot more that I can do (I mean, other than stopping, buuuuut...), I just wanted to know if there's anyone out there who relates 🥲

Whats your surface like?
Is it wood or rug?

I split my steps between indoor + outdoor and I found that I get less discomfort and calluses using a rubber mat when indoors.
Sometimes I use my daughter's playmat, it's feels nice and soothing on the feet and less impact on the knees.

I do an average of 25k to 35k steps per day so I cannot avoid calluses completely... but I do what I can to make it less painful, and less frequent.

Both - wooden flooring with a big ole rug in the middle (its size means that 50% of my steps are on it and 50% are off lol).

I also try and split up my steps a little :]]] unfortunately on days where I don't have a reason to leave the house, all my steps are indoors 🥲🥲

A mat is a really good idea! Personally I might save it for the case in which more serious injuries start to show up, just because my pacing is heavily compulsive; but I will for sure keep it in mind!

An update on the band-aids: today I tried covering them with a longer strip of kinesiology tape! Hopefully this should not only better support the soles of my feet without shoes and hold the band-aid in place, but also mean that I don't have to use too many band-aids (since it isn't covering an open wound, I don't think it's unhygienic to keep it on until the k-tape starts to peel). So far it seems to be working - but I've just started my nightly pacing session with an aim for 30k, so I'll see how it holds up lol.

ik you said no shoes but what if you Had a shoe with thin soles made of foam or smth quiet? just to give some more support. the mat is also a good idea. or maybe a very soft rug...

also if its possible maybe another Exercise and less steps would help? ik you said it was compulsive tho... but maybe some standing workouts could slightly Replace the pacing??

Basically I learned to accept them, I have so many now.

I use callous remover and those feet grater things regularly, but even then, I have ugly feet.
