Cold All the Time But Not Underweight?

I've been constantly cold for the past week-and-a-half or so, and I'm super confused. Like, yesterday afternoon, it was 55 degrees F outside, and I could actually *feel* the sun and the warmth on, but I was still cold, if that makes sense. Like, I could feel the warmth, but it wasn't making ME feel warm.

Anyway, I don't know why this is happening, because my BMI is just a little less than 19. I'm still 2-3 lbs from being underweight, and everything I've read says that the reason people with a/n are cold all the time is because of low body fat, but I still have plenty of that, I feel like. Any ideas as to what's going on?

You don't have to be underweight to start getting the chills that come with starving yourself. Abnormally low iron levels (anemia) causes low body temperature as well. Just plain not eating enough has the same effect, I've found.

It hasn't exactly happened to me again this time around (lol weird), but last time I was dropping weight I started becoming incredibly cold in the BMI 19 range. It's not unusual and doesn't always have to do with body fat.

im obese but still anemic and i get cold everyday. even though i'm over weight i don't really eat anything so i ended up being anemic, you don't have to be underweight to get it you might want to get checked because if you get to a really low number you have to get a blood transfusion and stay in the hospital for two weeks ( my own experience). i hope everything works out for you if you want to raise your iron levels i recommend beets smoothies i just do it with water not milk too many calories but it helped me with my anemia

even if you're not technically underweight you can still be less tolerant of the cold than most people if you're on the lower end of average. my bmi is in the 19s & i can't stand the cold

also, if you lost a significant amount of fat recently you'll likely be colder than you're used to, regardless of your current weight.

Are you on any meds? I take one that changed me from always being hot and sweaty to cool/cold and I almost never sweat anymore. The med papers say it could cause body temp changes. I love it! I live in a very hot climate so being cold is way better than hot! Of course, sometimes I get so chilled my teeth chatter and I shiver for no good reason. Those are the times I think the cold is from fasting/restricting. But you gotta take the good with the bad. And I choose cool.

I've always been cold all the time even when I was over 130. Not surprised you're cold at that bmi.

For me personally it's more to do with intake rather than weight/ BMI... if I'm low restricting I'm always cold, even when it's summer in Australia and I had a healthy BMI. These days I'm either high restricting or eating up to maintenance at BMI 15, and I never get cold...

Are you restricting? You could absolutely be cold from lack of nutrients at Any weight.
Layer up!!! You can take OTC supplements and see if they make a difference? Iron causes OD at a lower than average xose - roughly 800% at the low end for some people, so be just be warned to read labels. :)
