Brain fog and how to deal with it

What do you do those days when you have extreme brain fog?

Are there any ways to make it better or do you just power through it?

I feel like when my thoughts get really cloudy, i get completely stuck and the whole day just passes by without me doing anything even remotely productive.

I cant even concentrate on a movie or a show.

I am aware that in todays culture, youre always expected to be productive. The society is constantly pushing this toxic mindset that is rooted so deep in the system and im trying really hard to fight that (and failing). It is just really hard trying to not to tie my worth with how much i get done. I feel so miserable if i cannot even achieve my own minor goals (like trying to get through the day like a semi functioning person). This brain fog makes me feel like such a failure and it feels impossible to combat.

Sorry about going a bit off topic, im just so frustrated with myself and the way that this world works :)

Totally relate to everything you just wrote! Especially how brain fog makes you feel like a failure. I remember when my brain fog was at its worst, I wasn't able to get anything done and sometimes couldn't even hold a conversation with someone. My brain fog still sneaks up on me some days and I've embarrassed myself in math class not being able to do simple calculations recently. It's seriously cringe and makes me feel like an idiot...

It could be caused by a lot of things (Nutrient deficiency, thyroid issues, kidney problems, etc) so fixing it depends on what's causing it. Mine was caused by a mix of thyroid and deficiency issues. Honestly, the only thing that's helped my brain fog is is eating proper nutrients. I know that's not what most people want to hear (Believe me, I wish there was another way) but supplying my brain with fuel to keep it functioning properly is the only way I can lessen the brain fog. I was still able to restrict, but the types of foods I was eating made a huge difference in how I was able to preform, cognitively.

Another thing that's helped me is staying on top of my magnesium, Potassium, sodium, and b-vitamin levels through supplements or electrolyte powder. Everyones different and you're probably going to have to try different things to figure out what works for you, this is just my experience with the dreaded brain-fog.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for this answer, it is always comforting to know that there is someone that can relate!

Ive been trying really hard to make my diet as nutrient dense as i can while still restricting, but obviously im lacking on alot of things if im eating so little. Atleast im practicing harm reduction.

It has been a while since i got my blood tested, so maybe now would be the right time to do so, since i probably should try to figure out if there is something more to this blanket that is covering my thoughts.
