Writing characters with eating disorders

I was wondering if anyone could give me some help with a novel I've been trying to write for ages now, I have a character who was an overweight child and teased for it so growing up she developed a fear of being overweight and started hanging out with girls who encouraged her not to eat but when she moves away from them and her mum gets a new job she develops anorexia. Only I don't seem to be able to write her properly, every other character is fine, but I can't get her right. Does anyone have any tips for writing characters with eating disorders that you don't have? Especially development and concealment of them from a fairly absent and busy parent?

I would read the book Life-Size by Jennifer Shute.

It sounds similar
