Why do people with higher BMI's look thinner than me (especially thighs)

There are celebrities with KNOWN higher BMIS than me, including ones in this thread: https://www.edsupportforum.com/threads/people-who-arent-underweight-but-still-look-good.4335641/

Their thighs are smaller than mine and everything!! Is it because I skate???? Why are my legs so huge? Why does my belly fold!? Am I just destined to be fat and ugly? (the ugly part is kind of a given if anyone on this forum ever saw my face they'd tell me to stop trying to loose weight because there is no saving what I look like)

1. Body dysmorphia makes you think you look bigger than you are.
2. Those celebrities may have more muscle/lower fat %
3. Online sources stating celebrities' weights and heights can be wrong. In fact, I'm deeply skeptical of them much of the time. I think that with a lot of very thin celebrities, the weight given for them online seems to be (imo) a significant overestimation.

At least point 2 gives me maybe some motivation to bulk up. I wish there was a way I could find out my fat/muscle ratio at home...

If you fixate on a specific body part you may lose sight of the overall appearance .

For example I don’t fixate on my legs at all - I’m not pear shaped and they’re not my “problem area”. So I see women heavier than me who are pear shaped but have thin arms and stomach and think THEY look thinner because I fixate on MY arms and stomach. But I’m not noticing the bigger thighs and butt etc. I bet the women with slimmer thighs are bigger elsewhere

I understand your point but personally I see them as thin all over. I just wonder why my thighs in particular are SO fat. Even when I was at my LW. Tbh it vexes me how they look skinnier all over at a higher BMI not just the thighs. If I could figure out how to look underweight while being a healthy BMI I'd be set

Muscle weighs more than fat. Maybe they work out a lot? Obviously there's genetics in play, but behavior has an effect on body composition too.

Muscle can be strategically targeted, unlike fat.

You said "Muscle can be strategically targeted, unlike fat." what do you mean by that. Targeted to do what? Sorry I'm dumb
