and i still say them this way a lot. i'd only ever read them for years, sue me. i have others im sure but these are my biggest failures

I've been pronouncing many words wrong, some of them are:

-Homage: thought it was home-idge instead of oh-mahdge
-Tomato: there are 3 different 'A' pronunciations, ah, ay and a (m-AH-rch, m-AY, m-A-n) and I always thought it was tom-A-to.
-Epitome and pint like @SabrinaSpellmansEvilTwin said.

Also thought Eloise was pronounced El-loy-se and Penelope was like envelope.

 

For a while I thought that WiFi was pronounced wee fee.

 

Boo-lean

Like I was pronouncing it like Boo for a ghost and lean as in I want to be lean.

Its pronounced boo-le-an

Old factory hallucination is the best thing I've heard all day.

I've never been able to remember how to pronounce turmeric. Another one is Freudian.

 

when i was like 11 i used to say anime like an-iyme and it was the worst.

and for years as a kid i had only read the word pigeon in books so i said it like piggy-on

also i always say pr-oh-ven instead of proo-ven and everyone gives me shit for it? had no idea it was wrong lol

 

there is a lot of english words but a word i have said wrong was "fyrværkeri" which i pronounced " fy - værkeri "

the words means fireworks in english

 

No wrong pronunciation, just different accents,,,,,, I just LOVE the way Americans pronounce aluminium.

In the UK we say " al you minny um"

And my Canadian bestie kinks me up when she says municipal ,,,muney cyple, like cycle. ,,,, it's dead boring here "mew nissy pal"

 

i pronounced photography "photograph-ee" for a long time until i was put in a graphic design class lol

i thought "bless you" after sneezing was "blesh you" until i was like 16

this one is embarrassing af.. when i was like 13 i thought DEADMAU5 was pronounced "dead-mm-ow-five" (mm-ow like Maui) I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE 5 WAS AN S

i thought "barrette" was pronounced "bret" until i went to summer camp and the girls were like ????

i pronounced "manga" as "magna" ????

i pronounced "lyrics" as "LIE ricks"

 

I may have been over 30 when hubby looked at me funny for saying "upside right" ... you know, the opposite of "upside down."

It still feels weird to say right-side-up so I still say upside-right. People think I'm just quirky. :lol:
