Hi everyone, sorry if I made posts of this topic before, I'm just suoer nervous. I have AN BP, I went to the ER last week for puking blood ( turned out to be an esophagus tear) and the Dr sent a referall to the hospitals eating disorder program. Soon I will have an assessment, where they evaluate me then decide what kind of treatment to offer me. The 3 types of treatment are day treatment, inpatient, and outpatient therapy. It says on their website it says the op is for mild to moderate cases, inpatient is for severe, day patient for moderate. At the moment I have a bmi of about 15.2, but no medical complications other than the tear ( at least that I know of). I bp a few times a week( on days I bp I eat about 900 or 800 cals outside of that) , recently had to cut down from daily because of my new co-op. I eat about 1000-1200 a day on days I don't bp, I have to because I work with kids,an active job. I feel like maybe I dont even need treatment if I'm eating this much already, and I feel fake. What kind of treatment do you think they will recommend ?

Ik ppl here are saying ip but do you really think I'd get reccomeded that even if I have no medical complications ? My heart rate, blood pressure, all blood work is good. I kinda doubt that they would put me there if I'm medically stable, which I am.

Well, going to the ER puking blood with a tear is a medical complication.

Also, though we forget about it, a BMI of 15 is technically a medical issue, and a pretty big one at that.

You said yourself outpatient is for mild to moderate cases and inpatient is for severe. Even the diagnostic criteria say a BMI of under 15 is severe and you're close to that so with the purging aswell and a recent trip to the ER it's likely you'll need to go inpatient. There's a very very small chance that they might give you a chance as a day patient and it depends on how willing you are but with the very high risk of refeeding syndrome inpatient is still more likely as your vitals will need to be monitored and you'll need daily blood tests. Outpatient will be out of the question in your condition.

The guidelines state to support a patient in the “least restrictive environment” so they won’t offer a higher level of care than is necessary. Therefore if inpatient treatment is recommended then it’s probably what you need. Take the advice you are given.

The ip program only has 7 beds,so I doubt I would be recommeded that but I will see. Thank you everyone for your support. If I get reccomended ip I will def consider going. I will find out soon enough, just the what ifs are making me so anxious.
