When I dont want to be tempted to overeat, I drink 3 cups of water/tea right before dinner, and again about an hour later. My logic is that the liquid will fill up at least some of my stomach so I eat less. However it often leads to huge bloating and pain :( Is this helping me eat less or am I just making my life harder and essentially just peeing it all out? Also would it be better to drink fluids during dinner? To reduce hunger?

Be careful because water loading can lead to many negative side effects and can actual prove to be dangerous in some cases. I heard a story of a girl going blind in one eye because she wanted to be heavier for a weigh in. It can also lead to malabsorption of iron in the long run.

I find that drinking while eating enables me to compact more food into my digestive tract, so it tends to enable me to eat more rather than less. I'd think if you just held off on drinking until after you ate rather than before or during you would feel a lot better while keeping down your food intake more. Drinking a lot before eating likely could make you feel more fatigued after eating.
