Just wondering if anyone has used Saxenda (Liraglutide) or anything similar?
Especially if you’re at a normal weight.
TIA

Hi! I just started using Saxenda and I am normal weight. I found a doctor in my city that will prescribe it even if you are ”only” overweight so I managed to fake a slightly higher bmi than what I would consider myself to be and he prescribed it to me.

I started yesterday and my apetite is already completely gone.I feel a slight nausea, but nothing that bothers me. I’m hoping to lose 10-15 kg.

I’m using it too. Got it prescribed by an online doctor & just gave a weight that gave me an overweight BMI- it’s amazing- I have no appetite.
I’m pretty worried I’m going to relapse though- but also pretty happy with the weight loss!

I’ve been on saxenda, ozembic and am currently on mounjaro. I have rybelsus as a backup if I can’t get mounjaro. I am a normal weight. My primary history is with bulimia for the last 12 years, I’ve never been underweight but I’ve been overweight with a bmi of 29. I was prescribed these medications for bulimia, not for weight loss. I like them. I don’t abuse them and I think they are great for bulimia/BED. I have never gone so long without binging/purging and feel more normal with my relationship with food on these meds than I ever have in my life.

I didn’t know it could be used for bulimia but it makes sense to prescribe it off label since it kills your appetite!

How much have you been able to lose on Saxenda/Ozempic? I have read 1 kg a week from most people and hoping something similar. What dose are you on? My doctor said he wouldn’t recommend me going over 1,8 mg since I’m not ”so big”.

Honestly I hoarded the saxenda because it was daily and I knew it helped but because of said hoarding until I “needed” it it wasn’t as useful as it should have been. By the time I needed it I often couldn’t stop the binge urge. I couldn’t very well know if that day was the day I needed it and it takes time to affect you. That was what I was told to do also vs taking it daily no matter what. He always suggests lowest effective dose for me. I never took the full dose of ozembic either, i had to 2mg pens and usually only took the half dose (0.25mg) or even less because you can do the dial to wherever you want, so id do just a few clicks. Later sometimes I took somewhere halfway 0.25-0.5 ozembic but never the whole dose. I’m in the vet field and I was both directed to and felt very comfortable adjusting based on how I felt. He said the same to me, that I’m smaller so I would probably find benefit on much lower doses and that’s been very accurate for me. I don’t remember what saxenda I took anymore.

The mounjaro he sends larger pens so I can stretch them out which was almost a fail, the pens are single use. He suggested putting them into an empty sterile vial from my job but the mechanism is just really annoying. I did find a way to both get the meds out of the chamber and do so sterile/aseptic, so I take a fifth of the 15mg pen once a week. That’s controversial in the mounjaro groups so I never talk about it in there and wouldn’t want anyone hurting themselves replicating what I do (and ran by my doctor) but I’ve had no issues doing it for a couple months now and I’ve only used 3 of my 8 pens. Considering it’s quite expensive I prefer it the way I do it and that’s why he sent it like that.

I’d lose anywhere from 0.5-4lb a week (in the beginning), I didn’t start at a high weight going back on mj but it was consistently 3-4lb a week and then stopped pretty quickly at the weight I’m at now which is bmi 20. I went off ozembic in June, gained 20lb over 4ish months and also backslid some (told my doctor this that I was struggling again) and he sent the mj and it all came off in a month. I REALLY have to consciously hydrate. It’s so easy to get dehydrated on mj, I didn’t experience that with ozembic. November I’ve only lost 3.5lb but that’s fine. I figure my metabolism has adapted and I still eat to satiety.
