Ok, so I starting working out and slowly restricting yesterday. My goal is to workout twice a day until I reach my goal of a 73lb weight loss. But this morning I felt sick during my cardio. All of my energy was gone after just 1 hour. Any suggestions on how to sustain my energy?

Coffee can help with energy but make sure to complement it with enough water and keep hydrated. Also, protein shakes maybe? You can make them so they are not too calorific and I find that they really help. :)

Finally, I am not sure what intensity you were going at, but one hour doesn't sound so bad to me :) Good luck, and look after yourself!

Thx. I didn't mention that I'm overweight. And just started restricting and working out again. I haven't been able to work out for the past few months so that hour killed me. But my weight training session later in the day was fine.

i know you want "tricks" and stuff, but i will just talk about food.

contrary to popular believe what you eat right before your workout is NOT energy for body - glucogen stored is, and for that you need to eat carbs around 12 hours before cardio.

For example, on days i run, i normally run at 7pm - on those days i have a fruit of something else with carbs for breakfast around 7-8am.

Post run or any cardio, is important to have eletrolytes back- while sports drink do the trick, i dont like processed things so half a banana and a glass of coconut water.

for strenght training you normally dont need carbs, but if you work circuits, pilates in a more hardcore way, or anything that is targing muscles but could also make you fainty, you might need carbs too 12h before. And this is the moment to have protein after for muscles repair or you will always be hurting and seeing no much results.

So, i do suggest you plan your eating/calories aroud exercices, it will be life changing.

Thanks, I'll defiantly give that a try. Today was much better, did my eca stack, with a trail mix bar, lots of water and nuts. But only 30 mins if cardio followed by a lower body work out. I kept my energy up, but felt like puking after. I'll eat some fruit and something else to give me energy for my night time workout.

Take multivitamins, iron, and vitamin C. Drink lots of water, and if you can try keep your calories for before and after your workout. Eating before will give you energy and what you eat after will be burnt off faster as exercise can boost your metabolism :)

Is there anyway to avoid the pukey feeling with the eca stack?
I don't know how much your restricting, but it sounds like the nausea is probably caused by low blood sugar. If you are restricting a lot on cals and especially carbs, your blood sugar will be lower throughout the day, and when u workout it burns through more blood sugar for energy, which can leave you hypoglycemic and that alone can make you very nauseated and sick feeling. The EVA stack can also make you feel a little sick and I'd recommend lowering the dosages of it, maybe cutting it in half for a while. Your just starting out and it takes some time to adjust to everything.

Should I cut the caffeine in half also? Or just the ehpedra? Or perhaps I should pick something else to eat for breakfast. I usually have a small bowl if cereal.
If definitely cut the caffeine down that will make u sick on its own and have a carb before working out like cereal or nutrigrain bar or granola bar. Nothing huge that will upset your stomach but enough to give u energy and keep your blood sugar from plummeting.

I don't eat right before I work out I just feel too sick. But of u r going to exercise on the afternoon or evening I would try something 2 hours before, I usually have a lo cal fibre bar for some slow release carbs. Then I find I ok and don't even feel hungry afterwards. I think I just push thru feeling horrible, I nearly threw up at the pool yesterday!

I really wanna continue with the eca stack. Can I swap out the caffeine pills for a large cup of coffee? And have a banana and a multigrain bar? What do you guys think? I guess it's just trial and error at this point.

i would try a banana and coffee! :)

sometimes i'll have coffee before and a banana and water after. i try not to eat much before a workout because i know i'll be hungry afterwards.
