This is my first post on this site, but I've been using MPA for a little over a year now (finally decided to make an account).

I was restricting to around 500 calories or less for about a month, but then I messed up hardcore because of emotional stress and went on a 2 week binge (meaning between 1500-3000 calories a day, all unhealthy foods like pizza, candy, chips, etc.)

I know I was losing weight before, but now I feel like I've gained at least half of it back. I'm 5'6/5'7, apprx 135 lbs (I don't own a scale right now and too scared to go anywhere to weigh myself yet) I really want to weigh 115 or 110 by October, but I can't keep doing this fast/restrict/binge cycle.

Has anyone ever lost a decent amount eating 1000 calories per day? I figured instead of heavy restricting I'd up my intake and eat 1000 calories a day maximum for the next month. My goal is to have a couple 500-600 calorie days mixed in and maybe one fast per week. I'm also beginning an intermittent fasting schedule (only allowing myself to eat once every 16 hours).

I'm so afraid I'm going to start gaining again, a few months ago I was 145 (after 6 months of attempted "recovery" which just turned into overeating and overcompensating) and I'll kill myself if I ever see that number again. Last year around this time I was 107 and I really want that body back.

Do you think this'll work in regards to getting me down to 115 by October? Has anyone else been in my boat/consistently lost weight this way?

...I don't really exercise at all besides squats and pushups but I might start running to and from work (about 20/30 minutes jogging)

I have! Went from 38kg to 34kg on 900-1200 cals, mainly 1000, with the occasional cheat day of 1800 (following a cheat day, I'd eat 500 cals for a day).

I once lost like ~35lbs in about 2 months consuming ~1000cal a day. a unusual feat for me even w/ my naturally fast metabolism. I had a very active job at the time and walked my dog regularly, but didn't exercise at all per se.

generally I can lose 10-12lbs a month on ~1000cal while completely sedentary though, so I guess its not that surprising.

I'm 5'7" and 125.9 lbs. On the 17th of last month I was 137.8. So that's 11.9lbs in a month. My average net for the whole month was 881 cal a day. I ate more than that, but I walked a lot of it off. You'll lose just fine on 1000 a day with a little bit of excersize. It'll be much more sustainable than 500 a day.

I'm a 5'3 midget and I currently eat 1200-1800 a day (averages out to ~1400 in a week) I know my intake is higher than most people on this site, but I'm quite active and am trying to be more of a functional human being. I've only done this for a month but I've lost almost 5lbs since and my current bmi is 15.5

So inspiring, thank you! I hope I can be 125 by mid August, maybe even less

Always remember, calories in vs calories out :)

I do my best around that intake, between 1000-1300. It means I can still eat & function as an adult (I work full time, study & do pole dancing). It also means that I usually avoid binges, or if I do crave food I don't eat much because I'm not starving.

You say you don't exercise much, just try going for a 30-60 minute walk a day and it will do wonders for you :)

I used to do IF too, considering starting it again. x

Yes! High restriction keeps binges at bay, curbs suspicion, and i still lose relatively quick. I went from healthy to bmi under 17 in weeks

Yes, you will lose weight, i'm currently 167 cm tall and weigh 50 kg (5'5''/110 lbs) and i got here from 130 lbs all due to high (900-1000) restriction in less than two months, it probably would've happened even faster, had i not had a few binges in between. Definitely, if restricting, go the "healthier" way (1000 calories is still not considered healthy, but it's way better in terms of nutrition than 500 calories, which many here practice).

I'd say even 1200 calories is a good way to go, especially if you plan to exercise: you will lose weight, you will probably have an easier time curbing binges and you will feel way more energized to do every day things. With 500 calories i day, i would sleep all day and get no exercise, eating more made it easier to actually move myself and thus weight loss happened faster as well.

I lost on 1500 and I'm only an inch taller than you so you should be fine!

1000 is still a low number (despite the 4 digits) when calories are concerned

don't stress yourself too much about it :)

Lately I've been setting weekly goals (I'm eating 800 a day so my weekly goal is to stay under 5600 total) so that way if I do binge I can make up for it the next day, etc. I can't fast also, so maybe this will work for you?
Omg I'm not alone!! Yessss!! Technically I set "daily cal average" goals, so If i wanted to eat avg 800/day I would aim for 5600/week. I love doing it like this bc u can make up for overeating
