My multivitaminic makes me sick and vomiting. Anyone knows why could it be?

I used to take centrum junior at the age 12, after a few years taking iron and magnesium supplments due to me not eating veggies and fruit daily enough. But had to stop because they told me that at 13/14, I needed an adult's multivitamin. So bought one but couldn't swallow and the taste was horrible back then so... gave up.

Since I started restricting three years ago (and binging in between) I would feel weak, fainty and overall in bad health. So recently went to buy multivitamin. While on my psychiatric medication bought centrum woman. It made me sick and almost vomiting. So stopped taking for a few months. Then bought children multivitamin gummies and all good so far. But the lower quantaties of vitamins and the lack of certain like folic acid, calcium, iron and vitamin D... got me upset. So bought centrum woman... again. Took one, on a empty stomach, 2-3 hours after my meds... nothing. Felt great, Slightly stomach upset, but okay. Next day ate, took same, same shit. 3 minutes later i'm vomiting my breakfast and everything from my stomach, feeling weak, fainty and worse than ever. This scared me because, before for 3 days I took it far apart from my meds, with either food eaten and no food, and same thing happens.

Thing is, I NEED vitamins to stay inside me, not in the toilet bowl.

I figured it could be iron... but I remember as a kid having iron supplements and nothing bad happening. They weren't strong, they were made for kids I think, which is weird since you shouldn't give kids iron supplements. And 2 years after taking them, they went out of market here so haven't seen them in like 10 years.

Does anyone know why could this be? Myfitnesspal says I have lots of vitamin A, so could be the vitamin A?

And what multivitamin can I get instead?

I'm taking calcium and chromium these past two weeks, because my children's multivitamin... well... can't find it on any store and it didn't have either of these.

Anyone had a similar issue?

What vitamins should I get if I can't a multivitamin that stays inside me and doesn't make me puke my guts out?

Thanks in advanced. :)

For me, zinc is the culprit. I have excess copper, so a zinc supplement is non-negotiable. I just make sure I take it when I eat and I'm not active for an hour or so.

You have to take multivitamins with food or else they'll come right back up. That's why gummies are my standby.
I did take with food, but the day I didn't take with food but on an empty stomach i only felt weak didn't puke. If I eat, I puke it. So it's not the food thing :( that i'm sure off

And the gummy ones aren't available and they're the only kind here so i need to buy pills or tablets

I'll try to look for one with low zinc or no zinc. Let's hope it works...

I still take the kids flinstone chewables. It's like the only thing that doesn't make me sick, and the amount of vitamins and minerals in it works for me along with the rest of my diet to fill the gaps.

I have the gummies too (the hair skin and nails ones with biotin) because the regular version of that kind I can't handle.

Hope you find something that works for you!

If I take strong, or performance vitimins before I eat, it always makes me sick and dizzy, even if i eat right after - I think it's the iron. It was just trial and error for me to find one that wouldn't make me sick, but just going for weaker ones helped a lot. I've heard a lot about multivits with high iron irritating people's stomachs.

The best way is to just test different ones until you find one you're haooy with. Good Luck!

It might be the iron in the vitamins. I'd try prenatals that are easier to digest and have things like ginger in it. My go-to is the Garden of Life (can be had on an empty stomach even). They are pricey but worth it. The cheaper vitamins are not kind to the stomach.
