I'm trying to get rid of fat on my thighs and have a bigger thigh gap, would running/jogging on the spot be effective? I dont want to build muscle or anything, just have slimmer thighs. Has anyone else tried this and did it work?

Are you talking about running in place? Or running spontaneously? If you're talking about running in place, unless you have some kind of resistance like with a treadmill its not going to do much in terms of calorie burn or changing the composition of your legs. It would also be quite boring. Better to jump rope if you want to do cardio in a small space...
More importantly though, You should know that you cant build muscle unless you are at a caloric surplus. And you can't spot reduce.
Just do regular running and strength training, Eat a slight deficit from your TDEE.
