Ok I'm not taking about the morbidly obese mukbangs but like the majority of Asian and some western people look quite skinny or if not skinny , they don't look fat.

Any ideas why

~bulimia~ is my theory

Probably bulimia... or maybe they just fast/restrict heavily outside of filming the videos. Some may have naturally fast metabolisms too though.

Edit: spelling

So I just Googled "Mukbanger"
Gawd.
That sounds like an actual nightmare.
Watching someone eat AND listening to the noises they make?
I think I turned green reading the article. I have some serious Misophonia over here so that would probably kill me.

is it rly that easy to hide behind a screen on the internet like if these ppl had actual eating issues wouldn't it b talked abt or "exposed." there r so many of these ppl like it's bound to happen no?

i feel like some of them r normal n eat normally outside of these massive food binges n exercise it off or some neurotypical shit

Why does the answer have to be an ED? Yeah, some I wouldn’t be surprised. But most don’t make videos every day, or even every week. Once a fortnight, or even once a week if someone’s particularly active, really wouldn’t have much of an effect.

yea i agree. i feel like someone disordered wouldn't b able to put up a front for that long. it would be exhausting

Excuse my ignorance, but like, what is the point of them? Like, I know why people with EDs watch them. But the "normal" point?
I'm pretty sure originally they got popular in Korea as people would watch them if eating alone and it was a kind of social thing, like you're eating with someone. I think a big part of it especially in the western market these days is either shock value for how much they eat or ASMR

Evwn though it seems like they do it alot it's really only 2-3timea a week and in btwn most of them fast, exercise, and live very actively, I remember an interview with one (who literally sat on a scale during one whole mukbang) who said she did it twice a week, fasted at least 24hrs beforehand and went to the gym 3+hours a day

Many of them also don't eat all the stuff they pile up. They get a shitton of food to look "woah" for the thumbnail and then end up eating 2-3k calories from the 15,000 they lined up. Still a lot - but if you do that only once or twice a week, you can definitely outdo the damage without ED behaviour
