Do you guys ever watch those HCLF vegans on YouTube? Have any of you noticed that most of them claim that going raw, plant based, or HCLF helped them stop binging? Do think doing that would actually help? I mean just stop counting calories and eating plant based while working on other reasons why I binge? I'm worried to try because I don't want to lose more control then I already have. Counting calories helps me feel like I have slight control and I dont know if I should give that up. Its not like it's really been helping in the long run anyway. I'll binge on processed food, nuts, and dried fruit maybe avoiding all that for awhile or forever is what I need to help me. Sorry long post. what do you guys think? Should I try it while working on my emotional issues and bad habits?

I know but I need to change something. I think I will try some form of plant based even if it's not 100% perfect I may or may not gain weight I've been up and down so much with my weight I'm ready to settle at a healthy weight and not try to be the tiniest I can be. I gained and lost weight doing what I'm doing now I'm sure I can gain and lose weight with any form of eating. I believe eating mostly plant based is the healthiest way to eat and I know that way of eating will feel best for me. I'm now realising food isn't the issue here the issue is how I handle my emotions. I'm done looking for a magical way of eating because I know food is not the issue. I'm gonna avoid some of my biggest binge triggers because I think I need to for a while at least and I'm gonna start going to OA meeting or to therapy. I May over eat I may binge I didn't just become like this so I truly need to work on being the way I want to be while being realistic know that slip ups happen and that binge urges just don't come outta thin air.I don't want 10,15,20,60 years even to pass with me being in the same situation. Its time for hard nitty gitty work. Its time to exhaust every thing I can that my help me to stop and not just give in when it does work the 1st time I have given calorie counting countless chances but I haven't done the same with other things because of fear and habit. So I guess I answered my own questions. I know what I need to do I just need to be brave, stop playing victim, be realistic, and stay positive, and know it'll take some hard work. Nothing happens over night. Whew that was a bit of self motivational talk to myself lol. I have an issue that I want gone I truly don't want this to be as much of a problem by next year and each year that passes I want it to lessen till I'm completely free of it progresses has no time limit. I think it's time for me to stop blaming people and situations attend some sort of therapy and get back in touch with my religious side

I don't think it's "one size fits all" type of issue. Every body is different and HCLF may do the trick for you. It was the time when my binging was out of control (literally speaking) and I tried HCLF as one of the last resorts. I just wanted to see if it helped. I was on the diet for over a month and it worked really well to be honest. I use to binge on all kinds of sweet stuff: ice cream, chocolate, cookies, etc. In other words, foods that would give me a sugar rush very quickly. So, eating fruit did the trick for me. I was able to eat as much fruit as I cared for and had zero desire for regular sugary fatty foods. (I didn't - and still don't - eat bananas though because they are the trigger food for me. No matter how healthy they might be, no bananas for me no matter what. They set my urge to binge on fire that I can't get under control afterwards. Period.) I got off the diet after some time because I got sick of fruit. I've never been a huge fruit fanatic anyway. I'm more of a vegetables type of person. I guess that the point I'm trying to make here is you can give the diet a try. You got nothing to loose. What may haven't worked for others, may work for you. :} Take care. xx

I've been mostly raw vegan for a few weeks and although I still binge sometimes, I don't binge anywhere near as much as I did when I was non-vegan. Also my binges are fewer calories than it would be if it was a non-vegan binge. When I do binge it's not on raw vegan food, it's cooked/processed vegan food like chocolate or cereal.

I've been restricting my calories right now though so that's probably why I still binge but a few months ago I was eating fully raw but not restricting and I binged one time in 2 weeks compared to several times a week before I went raw vegan, so yeah I would recommend you at least try it and see if it helps!

Worth a shot, right?

I was in a bulimic-y binge/fast/binge/purge/binge/binge/binge phase and I decided to go fully raw. I was more high carb/80/10/10 than not, but I ate a lot of nuts, my fat intake was probably higher. Still, at the end of my 30 day trial I was doing amazing, loving food, and not binging.

It wasn't the vegan part of it, but the raw part of it that really helped me. I've started back eating fully raw and already feel like I have a better relationship with food. But you mentioned it wasn't food that was your issue, it was emotions, so I'm not sure how much it would help you.

I've gone vegan for about a month now and my binges have been cut down by a ton. Given I still do sometimes and I need to work out those issues. But it's not everyday anymore. Don't follow anything freelee says though okay. You eat until you're comfortable don't try to stuff yourself up. I'm not sure what kind of vegan I am but I just try to eat good foods. And they're cooked most of the time. I heart oatmeal.
