Exercising when sick?

Here's a thing.

I'm having a fever but I managed to get it down. I also have a workout planned (weights plus cardio, pretty intense) for tonight. I feel quite fine physically, actually, especially since my fever went down. But they say everywhere I shouldn't work out when I'm having a fever, and moreover - I shouldn't exercise for 2 weeks after that!

Have you ever done this? Do you know if this can be bad for you?

I wouldn't say two weeks after... that sounds crazy. The way I've always heard it, you should wait for 24 hours with no fever before exercising, because if your body is still really fighting the virus/bacteria you don't want to put even more pressure on it.

I don't know about two weeks, but I'd wait till the fever goes away. You have to think about your body fighting whatever is making it sick. If you go and work out and push yourself you'll never feel better, you might even do more harm then good. Not to mention as much as I love the gym they're dirty and germy.

Bottom line don't push your body too far when sick.
