Hi friends.
Just wondering if anyone knows the dangers of b/p with a "partially" erupted wisdom tooth. It's half poking through the gum and I've got to wait 3 weeks until the removal (yes I'm very drugged up in the meantime)
I've heard it's SUPER dangerous to purge during the recovery period but I'm not sure about when it's coming through?
Thankyou if anyone can answer! (Or can find an article or something about it) <3

As long as youre careful about keeping your teeth clean it should be fine. Purging can sometimes make it more painful/inflamed bc of the acid but for the most part it seems to just be standard wisdom tooth stuff of making sure you brush properly to avoid food getting stuck in it.

Honestly since the tooth is getting pulled out anyway it doesn't matter that much but you obviously wanna minimise the pain and bacteria growth so while there's a gum flap covering part of the tooth maybe avoid things like popcorn or strawberries that have seeds or bits that can lodge under the gum flap still covering part of the erupting tooth. If something gets stuck under there the pain will increase and also you'll emit a poo stench from your mouth. Use Listerine or warm salt water to keep everything clean and free of bacteria.

It's not about the tooth -- it's the newly damaged gum tissue. The gum where your wisdom tooth has come through is essentially an open wound, since there is not a perfect seal between any gum and tooth (and esp. not a partially erupted wisdom tooth like you're saying).

Stomach acid can get in the crevasses between the tooth and gum and cause/worsen infection. Infections can go to your bloodstream easily from your mouth. They are VERY dangerous.

Do NOT purge in this state! It's SO DANGEROUS. After your surgery also, be careful to follow their directions. I CSed after mine and of course got dry socket (from sucking) and infections. Just Google tooth infections for more info about the general danger of these. Add stomach acid deep into your gums and UM NOOOO HALP!

I never really considered it an "open wound" because I hadn't experienced any blood but I had heard of the dry socket infection.
TBH I thought it was only something that occurred afterwards but I'll definitely AT LEAST try to cut down majorly :/
Thanks dudes for the advice
