Heyy! So i wanted to ask if anyone has ever tried the dukan diet , and if so what results did you get?

For those who don't know the dukan diet it is like this -
Stage 1 ( attack phase) - you only eat protein and low-fat diary products for 7-10 days ( personally i want to try 14 + days since this is where you lose the most weight)
Stage 2 (cruise phase) - you alternate between protein only days and protein+veggie days. You do this until you reach your desired weight.
Stage 3 - you eat everyday protein+ veggies but you also add 2 pieces of fruit and some other shit.
Stage 4 (stabilization)- you can eat whatever you want except on thursdays where you can only eat protein . This stage is for life btw

I love this diet!

I always only do the attack phase. I've done the diet five times I think, and I've lost about 10 pounds every time. It's the most effective diet I've ever tried. I really recommend it :p Right now Im on my 4th day and Im already 6 lbs down!
Do you find that the weight loss is just from the scale or that you are genuinely physically smaller (waist/hip measurements have changed, etc)?

I lost a pound a day and had a massive binge on the fourth day.... Gaining all the weight back plus a few. :(

Im sure that a lot of it is fat. My BMI is pretty low, so 10 lbs is a lot to lose for me, and I can see it in the mirror after the diet that Ive lost. I also feel smaller. And the weight stays off so it can't be "just food and water weight" ;)

I tried it and lost about 10 lbs on a 10 day Attack Phase but when I pass to the Cruise Phase, I gained 3 lbs so I think it's for the best to only do the Attack Phase.

Hm. Looks like the Atkins diet with less fat intake. :/
It's actually quite different.

Atkins recommends lots of low carb vegetables as long as you stay under 20 grams of carbohydrate.

The dukan diet attack phase allows no vegetables at all.

THIS is why it works so well. It's known as rabbit starvation. When I was at my skinniest, it's pretty much where I was at. It's super effective in the short-term, but over time it has been known to cause death by starvation. It's the approach used in this diet. Again also highly effective, but not advisable to follow for any great length of time. Even if you have ample excess body fat to consume.

I'm actually about to do this again, combined with alternate day fasting. It shreds even better than the ketogenic diet, in my experience, because it initially preserves muscle. You also lose a lot of water weight this way because of the low sodium content. High water intake and adequate supplementation with vitamins and minerals (salts) are essential. :)

*sorry I know this is an old thread*

I did it way back in like 2011 and I lost 4kg in the first week then nothing even when following it for like 2-3 weeks before I stopped and gained it all back.

To be honest I only did it because I needed to drop a dress size in 3 weeks so it totally worked for that purpose.

I much prefer Atkins if I'm honest as it's a lot easier to maintain and you can still stay in ketosis if you're able to binge on fats (peanut butter and a spoon is my weakness).

Dukan got stripped of his ability to practise medicine because he was recommending that high school students get graded on whether they were at a "healthy weight" or not which is a little fucked up.

You have great timing to resurrect this thread because I am going to start this next week once I'm able to restrict again.

Just because he lost his ability to practice medicine doesn't mean all that much here. I mean, most of us could probably do worse in terms of our eating habits  It's good to know, but I'm going to do it anyway.
