1. Favorite calorie tracker and why?
2. Are they any apps that let you pick the maximum amount of calories you eat a day? Or do they all do that for you?

Hopefully some helpful information for everyone! Number two is more specific to my wants:)

I recently started using cronometer and I like it a lot. Same calorie tracker as a myfitnesspal but there's a screen that has a breakdown of your vitamin intakes which I have been finding extremely useful for low restriction. I also think the free version of crono has way more functionality than the free version of MFP.

Cronometer. I love the interface, I love the accuracy in the database, I love the trends feature. It's super customizable and has so many features, I can't even begin to brag on it.

Also, as for your second question, you can set any number as your 'BMR', turn off 'show weight loss goal', and set your activity level to none so it will function as showing your 'BMR' (which you can enter as any number you want) as your limit. When calorie cycling I would change the number at night in my BMR to whatever I wanted my limit to be the next day.

The free version is amazing but I decided to buy premium just because I like it so much and wanted the extra features (which you can do without and still have full functionality!)

I like my fitness Pal. I have the payed version but I think it's worth it. You get to set a calorie goal (but the lowest it will alow is 1200) and macro goals as well as other nutrient goals and weight goals etc. The nutrient goals are super helpful to make sure you're on track with stuff like protein and carbs but also things like potassium and fibre.

i use yazio

its simple and easy

gives u carb, protein and fat goals for ur set amount ( i think u can set any amount? ive been setting 600 no problem)

counts exercise cals and adds them to ur total daily allotment (unfortunately u have to get the paid ver for fitbit connection but paid is a reasonable price and unlocks a bunch of other extras)

been using it for months

Chronometer, it tracks nutrients and doesn't yell at you for not eating enough like how myfitnesspal does

If you have a fitbit it's great cuz you will know exactly how much you've burned with you bmr and activity.
you can choose to loose .5-1 lb a week and it well tells you how much you have left if you were doing this the "right way". It tells you how much you you've burned if you don't have one either you just choose your activity level. This is my today so far

Lifesum too. It's easy and has a barcode scanner which is good. It allows you to create your own means, shows a visual on how you are with your calorie goals and gives you reminders to drink etc

However you cant put in a very low calorie goal. Mine was 1200 min but you dont have to reach it obviously

I use this app called Simple Calorie Counter, it might only be for the Google Play Store. It's exactly what it says. Nothing fancy, the bare basics. You put in the calories, it counts them, and it saves your previous entries so u don't have to type them in every time. You can set your goal at whatever you want, whether it's a minimum or a maximum. It also has a graph to show your progress. You can go to previous days and look back at how many calories you had. I really can't stand apps that have 20 different features like recipes, a list of foods, tips, weird notifications, etc. it hurts my head. This gets right to the point, just how I like it.

I use this too. I would like to have one with macros but not one with a database of foods and weird measurements. I want to be able to add in my usual foods and their macros then select the measurements each time I have some but I'm yet to come across one that works well and doesn't have unnecessary bells and whistles.

I love MyFitnessPal. I've used it for so long and it's stored all of my information for years! So funny to see my yoyoing over the years.

- The database is so large, it's easy to find the brands you love.
- Label scanner which I use so often
- Easy to customize ingredients by weight or serving size.
- You can add friends and share food diaries if you so desire.
- Lets you share progress photos and interact with your friends progress.
- Syncs up to my Apple Watch, health app, and so many others like Fitbit and running apps.
- Easy to see carbs, fiber, proteins, etc. Yes, this is available in the free version!
- I love saving my meals and being able to quickly add images, customize ingredients, and even select my serving size.
- Lots of charts and graphs to track your progress
- I never do them, but there's always cool challenges like running a certain amount of miles by a certain date, etc.

I think the only downfall is it won't let your limit go below 1200, but that doesn't mean you have to meet it. I'm always logging under 1200 and just use the Losertown site to track my goal projections.. I've tried other apps. I think I'm just married to MFP at this point.
