Anyone ever try adding cinnamon to foods or using apple cider vinager?

Apparently cinnamon can decrease your insulin levels (lowers your glycogen levels, thus decreasing the amount of fat your cells absorb) and increases your insulin sensitivity.

Apple cider vinegar has been credited with preventing insulin and blood sugar spikes after eating (especially with high carb foods).

Thoughts? Opinions? Experiences?

Its cool stuff to do that. Cinnamon tea's are also effective.

I sell the pill versions of these sorts of things for a living and its one of my hobbies to see how much data there is on the stuff. Neither of those is impressive in how much it helps, but any help is good help ya know.

You can overdo the vinegar or the cinnamon. Cinnamon has varrying amounts of coumarin, which is terrible for your liver. But because its an organic acid it doesn't solubilze into water, which is why cinnamon tea has a basically unlimited threshold. Ceylon Cinnamon is a different species of cinnamon that also is lacking in coumarin, but its expensive.

The vinegar you really only have to worry about what it does to your teeth. Don't take it before brushing and don't rinse a lot while taking it because it temporarily softens enamel. But otherwise both are excellent for your health.

And always... the best way to increase insulin sensitivity is to cut carbs completely. So experiment with that.

i drink two teaspoons of acv mixed in 8 oz of water daily.

it helps suppress my appetite and it has so many other benefits. i love it

I'm a sucker for everything with cinnamon, I add it to practically everything I eat, but I don't think I really noticed a difference.
I did binge less while I was in my cinnamon phase, but that might just have been coincidence, i have no idea.

slightly off topic but apple cider vinegar is also great for your skin, especially getting rid of zits! you have to make sure you dilute it first tho because otherwise it's too harsh on the delicate skin of your face. i don't apply it all over my face either, i just use it as spot treatment

i have yet to try drinking it so i'll probably do that today and see how it goes!

Yeah no I'm also a cinnamon bitch but I really hate those fad diet slim-down advice things. Like apple cider vinegar did jack shit for me and so many others. I feel like it's unnecessary to worry about stuff like that ("antioxidants" is usually the trophy word that makes me stop reading) when, unless you have seriously specific medical issues and the studies done on effectiveness are widely researched and recognised, you'll be better off just focusing your attention on the calories you're consuming, the quality of nutrients and exercise or electrolyte replenishment when you purge or fast.

I love cinnamon but I ain't playing team white-mom-susan-who-has-a-parenting-blog-and-wears-parkas-unironically. She probably lost that little bit of weight laying off on her cab sav last week because of the PTA meeting on tuesday and bake sale on thursday (after which she binge drank vicariously and threw up all the gluten-free gingerbread anyway - "what is an celiac?"). Just my opinion.

2) I do eat lots of cinnamon but mostly just because it adds lots of flavor without many calories:

Yeah the Celiac disease fad shit pissed me off a lot. It's rare and if you have it you will damn well know. There's also a huge difference between Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. But you know...people can be extremely ignorant with these things. They will also list shit as "gluten free" that is obviously gluten free and would never have or had gluten in it normally to begin with. They just know that if it says "gluten free" a lot of people will buy it automatically. It just got a bit ridiculous IMO. The companies saw $$$ and went with it. My kids grandma (their mother's side) tried to say that they had Celiac disease. I'm just like...yeah okay. Then why can they eat gluten and not be fucked up? Self-diagnosing is stupid and can be dangerous. Just because you want to ride the gluten free fad doesn't mean everyone has Celiac disease or even gluten sensitivity.

Best zit treatment! Mix ACV with baking soda honey and cinnamon! Apply and leave on for 20mins rinse and pat dry. Amazing results!! Just dont use too much cinnamon cause it will have a burning sensation

I did when i was at my worst , in such a delirious way now that i look back on it
Same here!!!

I would chug down a shot on empty stomach before breakfast, then again before lunch and sometimes later in the day just when I got hungry.

I remember on Christmas 2014 I visited my family and would panic b/c I didn't know how to get my regular dose of apple cider vinegar without somebody noticing it. Worst of all, I even forgot to take my bottle of vinegar with me and was freaking out so much about it that I bought one in a store at the main station (overpriced as hell!) on my way to my family. I hid it in a bag and put it in the bathroom at my parents place so I could drink it there in secrecy before meals. Which I did even more frequently and in huge amounts b/c Christmas fear foods everywhere and I couldn't avoid eating because I didn't want to come off as the disordered anorexic daughter (lmao at BMI 15 and with an apple cider vinegar addiction from hell).

So yeah, apple cider vinegar: been there, done that. Had enough of this acid sh*** for the rest of my life. As for the effect as an appetite surpressant, it kinda works because it makes you literally feel sick to your stomach (that's why you should only drink one shot max.). BUT it loses its effects (or your body gets insensitive to it) after a while and you need more to get the same effect! Hence my "addiction"... Besides, I was on the verge to develop ulcers from the acid which was def caused by the vinegar according to my doctor.

I never touched it ever again, weight loss works perfectly fine for me WITHOUT this.

I take apple cider vinegar regularly because it is really good for you and also helps to keep things "regular". And cinnamon is just delicious so of course I add that to as much as I possibly can. Cinnamon and anything spicy are my two weaknesses.

I follow a ketogenic diet though so I don't consume these things to help me lose weight or reduce insulin spikes (because I don't have insulin spikes lol).

Tall glass if water, tbsp acv, terrifying amounts of cinnamon, and splenda. Mix. Tastes awful, but slightly better than simple diluted vinegar.

Although I find it easier to just drink a shot. It somehow is more painful diluted idk
