why does coke zero make me so sick!?

whenever I just drink a little bit of it I instantly get an headache, nausea, dizzy, blurry vision, and just feel generally really really unwell. the pain from the headache goes into my face and it feels like torture. I depend on coke zero so so much though because it helps me to stay B/P free :/

i've also never had this problem before, I could even drink 3 bottles a day and never feel sick but now i feel like this. it's as if my body developed an intolerance over time because it's fed up with it or something? it also doesn't matter if I drink enough water, it still triggers these symptoms. sometimes I even get migraines, and again none of that happened in the past.

does anyone know why this is, or what I can do, or if at least anyone relates :(

it's just odd that it suddenly happens out of nowhere, but guess I'll have to say goodbye to it. I always feel so much fresher, healthier, and just better overall when ditching it, but then the b/p urges kill me. I think I may try sparkling/flavoured water as a substitute.

Odd suggestion but try upping your salt. I often end up with salt issues from the GI problems of too much artificial sweetener and (despite no actual diarrhea) the combination of more artificial sweetener + more insufficiently salted liquid in pop = death blow to my hyponatremia symptoms. Carry around a bag of pink salt for that reason. Similarly your tolerance to artificial sweeteners can wax and wane depending on how frequently you ingest them, e.g. a regular 3 cokes a day might be fine when your system’s adjusted to it, but take a break for a while and one might be too much

Your electrolytes could already be in a precarious position with any level of b/p, even if you don’t usually consume a lot of artificial sweeteners/normally have a high tolerance, so pinch of salt at first and seeing if it makes any difference might be worth a shot

tried this yesterday, but still felt mostly really sick. I'm going without coke zero today and I already feel SO MUCH better and healthier, it's actually feeling like a blessing right now to not sit here with an headache and nausea. I feel like coke zero is a harsh chemical mixture after all, and my body is giving me very clear signs that it's fed up with it. It's sad, but sparkling water seems to have a similar effect to surfing b/p urges! still thank you so much for your suggestion and I'm so glad you have found something that worked for you there.
Also I never really went off it - I drank 2-3 bottles daily for pretty much over a month now, it seems like the intolerance developed from never having a break off of it. I also don't think it's my electrolytes since I haven't b/p in like 32 days, and my water is rich of minerals. I think the aspartame is just too much for some reason, or maybe it's the caffeine

I don't drink it as often as I used to but last time I bought a can (brand coca cola zero, in France) I saw that there was Stevia in the ingredients. It usually had just aspartame and acesulfame before if I remember correctly.
Maybe check if the ingredients have changed ?
checked yesterday but still aspartame, I feel like with stevia it would work even better for me because I eat strawberries with stevia a lot and it never gets me these symptoms 😭 wish we had that here

Or if it's still just aspertame, I believe there's such a thing as aspertame poisoning which is dose-related, so it may have added up over time.
that's honestly my theory too, and I feel like the lower weight you become the harsher the effects may be (as it is with medication - less weight requires less dose). I've quit cold turkey now and feel much better

Genuine question habe you ever had a caffine od? I accidentally did, and one of the biggest reasons is because I took about 10 250 MG caffine pills and chased it down with diet cherry soda, now I can't drink diet cherry soda because every time I taste it I just taste those awful energy tablets, and whenever I do try to drink it I get very shakey, can't walk, stomache aches and extreame Nausea

Aspartame poisoning. I got it after months of chewing thru 3 tubs of bubblemint gum per day. Eventually i couldn't even smell the stuff without gagging. And now whenever i have something with aspartame in it i feel very ill very quickly. Also kindof makes me weirdly depressed
