apologies if others have brought her up already, but what do you guys think of the youtuber clara dao? she’s very underweight but claims she doesn’t have an ED and is just naturally skinny. she posts a lot of “body positivity” stuff tailored toward underweight people, but most of it is blatant body checking in my opinion. for example, she recently posted a short to that “victoria’s secret” song and literally showed her weight on a scale (unhealthily low), and she brags all the time about how people make fun of her for being “flat” or “too skinny.” i guess she bugs me because while skinny shaming is sort of a thing, she literally has the ideal body type in the fashion world. and imo, when people “skinny shame” me, it just feels like a compliment and not a reason to go cry lmao. what do y’all think of her? triggering? love her? fine?

Never heard of her before. She's says on her website that she's 5'6" and 95 pounds, which would put her bmi at 15.3. I have a hard time believing that's natural or healthy, but I could be wrong. To me, naturally underweight people are usually in the 16-18.5 bmi range. Her weight is so very low that I'd worry about health consequences, even if she doesn't actually have an ED. But I am not a medical professional. I will say that she looks good at her weight, not particularly bony or anything that would immediately alarm me. So I'm conflicted.

Had to Google her. I think she's super beautiful and thin but it's hard to believe that she's naturally thin. A lot of people who claim to be that way just have ate small portions their entire lives and are used to it or exercise a lot/ forget to eat.

I have a feeling that she made that tiktok on purpose to trigger people, so she's rubbing me off the wrong way. My AN-dar is going boop boop boop. I can just feel it.

literally, like how can she not know at this point that she’s triggering people? and when you build your whole platform/identity around being tiny, even if you didn’t have an ED before, it seems like a great way to develop one.

i've seen her on tiktok and think her content is annoying. "body positivity" influencers who constantly post about their bloated stomachs throughout the day literally do not deserve a platform. it's so useless in actually helping young people learn to accept themselves. they put such emphasis on their proportions and measurements that any meaningful message gets immediately thrown out the window. i don't like her and she seems to put on an oblivious act.

as for her weight, she looks decently healthy despite seeming to be underweight. she's asian and it could simply be genetic. but the way she talks about her low weight and small proportions is like a form of bragging, basically stroking her ego each time she posts.

you can make content centered around acceptance of very skinny bodies without the need to include measurements or point attention to how small you are.

Ok, sorry to call you out like this, but this is wrong, and I think it's a harmful bit of misinformation to spread, as it can lead Asian people to thinking they can/should be lower weights.
Asian people being able to be healthy at lower weights or be "naturally" bmi 15 is not actually a thing. The only genetic differences between healthy weights for Asian people (and, actually, it's specifically only east Asian) and white people is a slightly lower threshold for where the overweight category starts. All races start being unhealthy below 18.5, no race is underweight naturally, and differences we see in average weights between other places and east Asia are because of insanely high societal pressure to be thin.
It's not genetic.

i'm only slightly familiar with her, but my guess is that she's used to eating small portions and has a hard time consistently upping her intake for long enough to gain weight? not sure if she's still trying to gain weight but she has a post from a couple of years ago saying she wanted to hit 105. besides that, it makes since to me that her weight would be pretty low given her tiny bone structure. not interested in her content tho so I can't really comment on what I think of her as a person

I am skinny and flat chested at the same time. She gives me inspiration to appreciate and love my body despite being judged by many people. Ofcourse, everyone of you won't get inspired because you're not the same as us. It's easy for you to say something because you aren't in our shoes. It doesn't mean we're skinny, we don't eat a lot. I EAT A LOT. This is just how I'm build. We are also trying our best to gain weight. Do you think it's that easy to do? Even obese people have a hard time loosing weight. You think eating a lot could fix everything? What do you know about us? It might work for others but it's not for everyone. I can relate to her and I love the message she is saying in her posts. You can't, because you will never be in our shoes and never understand our feelings because we're ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT.

I've seen her before but I've never been interested in her content since her rhetoric is boring. I don't think anything in particular. From what I do remember, she did a lot of posing in her Instagram videos. I do think she wants to flaunt her size. idk, cool do you I guess. I'm not a huge fan of the body positivity or really any hyper pc positivity movements. Most of them are highly attention seeking and I can't bother.
