Understanding the relationship between ED and SH

I've self harmed for much longer than I've had an ed. I started self harming in about 1st grade- I distinctly remember it. I started developing an ed my senior year of hs.

I feel like not everyone who self harms is vulnerable to an eating disorder, but everyone who has an eating disorder is , of course, self harming. I think ED's are caused by a need to control your body. Maybe you have family fixated on dieting, you're a dancer, you were bullied for weight, you were assalted, etc. Those events would cause someone to self harm using eating disorder behaviors. With other forms of self harming, the individual might not have that history or fixation on body size/food, but still feels the need to be distructive toward themselves.

idk I could be wrong. this is such an interesting question. :) thanks!
