I have a difficult time showering/bathing, I hate being dirty but the water temperature has often been a shock to my body no matter how much I adjust it

It takes so long to ease myself into the shower and to get out of the shower

I often bathe myself with a sponge and wash my hair in the sink

Is this weird and in my head or has anyone experienced something similar/???

^This is a good idea.

I also spend the majority of my time washing (I can only shower due to the type of bathroom I have) sitting down. I only stand to apply shampoo/conditioner and rinse. The rest of it is spent on the floor just steaming. 😎

Maybe this will help you. It's nice because I don't need to be sprayed by the hot water directly, you can just turn the shower head to spray somewhere else.

I have a shitty shower plus depression, so showering is a struggle & I do exactly the same. Washing your hair in the sink is so much easier when it's short :'0

yeah, I'm the same way...kind of...not for the same reasons...

I have major sensory defensiveness issues when it comes to water -- particularly like, water "coming down" on me (so showers, rain, etc); and also being wet in general, unless I am fully submerged in water.

so I only ever take baths...but even that, can be really unpleasant...

I take a bath about once a week -- wash my hair, really thoroughly clean my body & exfoliate my skin really well, all that. it used to be more like every 10 days - 2 weeks, but for whatever reason my hair has been getting greasy much more quickly recently, so lately it's been just about every week.

I wash my face at least once every day though, often twice a day (though I don't usually use soap & water to do so except in the bath, I have a variety of cleansing products I use on my face that aren't exactly "soap").

& usually (not aaaalways, but most of the time) I'll take a "whore's bath" (like wash my arms/armpits/chest/neck w/ a sponge or something & nether regions w/ Cottonelle wipes) at least once in between my proper baths.

I use baby powder in my hair to hold me over if it starts getting really greasy in between washes.

I love showering and unfortunately being schizophrenic, I have a hard time forcing myself to? It's a weird symptom (look it up). But I love it, I feel like a mermaid. Plus blasting yourself in the face with cold water completely naked is a really fun way to wake yourself the FUCK up. Sucks for everyone that hates showers though, I can't imagine how annoying that is

lately i've been showering daily, however, i generally have the shower on the hottest setting & jump in, usually because i'm freezing. for me its better, but i also have a hard time getting out because it's the only time i'm ever really warm.

I have a love hate relationships with showers. I love them because like others said I'm always freezing and being in hot water is one of the few times I feel warm. But I also hate them because I end up feeling really dizzy and sick by the end of them. (Probably all of the heat lowering my blood pressure or something I'm not really sure.)

I go back and forth with showering. I don't really like to. Mostly because I hate washing my hair. And I just hate doing it. It feels like it takes me forever to do and I just don't like it...: I do like taking hot baths and just sitting for a while.. usually playing on my phone

I know cleaning myself makes me feel better... but I just don't like to do it all the time.

I have the opposite problem; sometimes, I shower more than once a day, especially when I'm sad and/or about to binge. I don't shower as a way to get clean. On the contrary, showering to me is a distraction, and understand the distaste towards water-temp-shock. As another replier said, I would wait until the room gets warm and steamy before jumpy in. By doing this, the outside temp would better match the water temp (granted that you cool it just a bit before hopping in) and so that your body won't resist as much. Also, I'd try inching your way into the shower. Like, before you jump in, stick an arm under the water and let it adjust.

maybe you need to do something about your boiler so that the water is warmer ?
