I'm diagnosed with one/two/a mixed one (was met with different diagnostic approaches in different places over the years), but I've actually been told my by psychiatrist that as of now I no longer meet the criteria! I'm unsure whether it counts as a remission yet, as it's only been about half a year since I was told that, but it sure does make me feel proud, especially since I stopped being medicated for them a bit over a year ago. Years of treatment sure did pay off!

i was diagnosed with bpd at one point in a hospital but im not anymore. they will just diagnose anyone who is a woman and self injures with it i think. they still have cluster b traits on my chart but basically the only bullet points under it are “h/o nssi”

this happened to me too. It took years to get properly diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I do think I have a fair amount of bpd traits but bipolar is a more accurate diagnosis.

I have BPD. In my BPD group therapy, almost everyone had had an ED at some point in their lives. There’s known to be a massive overlap.

I have BPD and I've spoken to others who also have BPD alongside an ED currently or at least in the past. It seems to me the overlap comes from some of the symptoms of BPD, for example, things like difficulties regulating emotions, impulsivity, and struggles with self-image which can also feed into disordered eating behaviours.

Yes, I have BPD as well

Same! I refuse to let it go on my chart for that reason and the risk of it destroying my life as well risk to my safety in medical settings. My therapist understands and hasn't charted it as far as I'm aware. I knew for years now, but thought I was faking it or mirroring others in my life who had it despite multiple people having pointed out my symptoms and patterns. It's hell, but glad to know I wasn't somehow gaslighting myself over it.

BPD and it ruins my life

I’m diagnosed as BPD, I’m in treatment under an SCM pathway for that and have been for a year and I expect to be for another year or two.
I had a terrible year with those symptoms and multiple admissions and attempts, now I’ve had a psychiatrist recently say my restriction is a bpd behaviour but that’s been cancelled out by professionals who actually know me (unfortunately her report is the one on my medical records) but I have a history of a diagnosis of anorexia since September 2021 and it is recognised by everyone else who has assessed or worked with me. The psych wouldn’t let me explain my symptoms of the ED, shut me down each time I tried to explain the behaviours and mindset (fear and compulsion driven not self harm) and even recorded my weight at 47kg when it was 46.3kg at the time because ‘she only needs an estimate’ it’s been about 5 weeks and is now 43.9kg and my both teams have met with the ED service and I’ve been told if I decline much more physically they are considering and involuntary admission to hospital for it, a complaint has been raised and that psych is being investigated due to risk to patients with her mindset - both professionals I work closely with (my therapist and community nurse) have said I don’t even match bpd that well and my episodes seem to be more linked to my autism and being overwhelmed whilst I’m already burnt out.
I hate the diagnosis of BPD so much, I’ve been treated terribly by professionals and emergency services once they know I have that diagnosis - I was even arrested in a crisis episode and kept in a cell for 26 hours before being put on a section 136 and moved to hospital (the charge was wasting police time and was dropped once they actually listened to me). I’ve been detained in hospital and released whilst safety was still a major issue many times because it’s a personality disorder and seen as behavioural by a lot of professionals.

I’m looking to get it removed from my record and my therapist is supporting with that.

I was diagnosed with an ‘unspecified mood disorder’ at like 13years old - now as a whole adult I think it’s become something near covert narcissism/BPD from trauma. I don’t want to be a narcissist, was put in situations that caused so much genuine self hatred that if I don’t inflate the good parts of myself to compensate I feel l have nothing to keep me alive.

I understand the stigma coming from the label of narcissism, but it's important to remember that this is precisely what's behind it for so many people with NPD.

I've been diagnosed with both of these multiple times (sometimes two of them comorbid, sometimes one with traits of the other and sometimes mixed PD with traits of both) and went to a personality disorders specific treatment, so if you ever want to talk about it you can always PM me!

Is it okay to ask whether your ED and your HPD affect eachother in any specific way? I'm always curious about the way comorbidities present and HPD isn't really talked about much 😅 I always scored high for histrionic traits in different tests they gave me, but it never made it's way into a diagnosis in my case (perhaps they decided my other diagnosises account for the histrionic-like traits I present).

bpd apparently but the therapist who told me i had it never went back to my GP so thankfully i don’t have to disclose it :’)
