Okay, I have a genuine question...
So, I'm overweight and I know I'm overweight and I'm the first to admit it. But, is it possible to have body dysmorphia if you're overweight?
For example, last night I was watching Chopped with my husband and he made a snide remark about this one lady's weight. (Yes, I know he shouldn't have, and believe me, I told him so) I looked at him in disbelief though, because when I see myself, that woman's size is what I see, and I told him that, but he looked at me like I was crazy and said I am in no way that big. I mean, is it possible to be obese and still believe you're bigger than you actually are?
I'm really genuinely curious.

It is possible to have body dysmorphia at any size, any weight, any shape. It is a mental thing, and it is possible for anyone and everyone to feel this way.

As someone who suffers from body dysmorphia, I am really sorry to hear that you are dealing with this, and know that I have a lot of empathy for you. It isn't easy :(

Yeah, it's possible.

I remember once that I was at a bridal party, but I had come from work and was still wearing my uniform. They wanted to go to a club, so one girl offered me some extra clothes and I was like "um wtf thanks but they are NOT going to fit me" and she was like "what are you talking about? Sure they will, just try" and they did fit. I thought I was SO much bigger than her.

dudeeee i've had almost the exact same experience. in college i had this friend who i considered really skinny. and one day they asked me to try on one of their dresses so we could be fancy and i almost laughed them out of the room. they were so confused so i said i would try it to "humor them" and it actually fit lol. the idea that we were the same size was such a mindfuck.

but like others have said, yes it's absolutely possible. it's got more to do with your body image than your actual body if that makes sense. i've found that my BDD has gotten better with years of therapy but if still affects me at any weight and it's even more confusing when you're losing weight imo.

I'm about 200lb but when I see a pic of someone my height who's 300lb,that's where I think I am. I'm always surprised when I find out their actual weight. But even then, I still believe my body shape is similar to theirs, that we just somehow carry the weight differently but look the same LOL. My bestie is always shocked when I point out someone I think is my size, because according to her I'm way off.
