I've always been able to purge very easily but all of a sudden I can't make myself vomit no matter what I do?! I b/p 4+ times a day, every day, is it possible I've just burned my gag reflex out? If so, how do I make it come back I'm desperate

this happens to me too if I b/p a few days in a row, the reflex goes away. but it usually comes back in a few days-a week if i dont b/p. kinda helps me get out of the b/p cycle because if i cant purge i dont eat as much if i do binge

Happens to me too. I also purge around 4-6 times per day. Here's what I do when I'm struggling with purging.

  • When I can't make myself gag, I drink 10 fluid oz (296 ml) of saline laxative oral solution. Let that sit in your tummy for a little bit and then you should start to feel a little nauseous. Try to purge again by gagging yourself and it should all come up very easily. By far it's the best way I've purged yet. It's a lot less painful than other methods. Also, please don't let the saline oral laxative go through your system. You must puke it out, because purging with bowel movements are totally worthless and don't work at all. (They just get rid of water weight so it's not even losing any fat.)
  • Make sure the corners of your mouth are not turned up. Shape your lips in an O as if you were giving a BJ (sorry I know it's vulgar but it really helps!)
  • Also make sure you're not pressing down on your thumbs accidently too.

Hopefully this helps. There is nothing more upsetting than having a huge binge and then not being able to purge it.

This is me atm. Usually I try and use a different method to make myself gag (more fingers, toothbrush--do not recommend for safety reasons--, different positions, pressing on stomach, waiting to digest a little more and have it soften up etc) but after a couple hours when most of the food is digested anyways it's best to give your gag reflex/stomach a rest and just try and sleep or rest. If anything try and take a few days off b/p if you can, or just use the uncomfortableness/anxiety of this experience to remind yourself of what it's like when you can't purge and maybe it will prevent you or at least deter you from b/ping in the future. Best of luck!
