Lax question, serious pain?

I've been taking lax more often than I should in the past few weeks. I never took more than the daily recommendation (1-3), but I did use them every couple of days. Thursday night I took 3 lax at 11pm. I had to leave at 9am Friday morning, and I assumed that would be enough time for the lax to get everything out of my system. Usually I have a bowel movement within 6 hours. By 9am I still didn't have a bowel movement, which was odd. I planned on going to the amusement park with my friends. On the car ride there, my stomach was killing me. I was getting horrible cramps and came in waves, each wave seeming to get worse. I felt like someone was stabbing me in the stomach and twisting the knife.

They were similar to period cramps, just much worse. I've never been pregnant, but I imagine it's the closest thing I'll ever feel to contractions. I didn't have my calendar to check when my last period was, so I started assuming the stomach pains were a mix of a bad reaction to lax with period cramps. At one point it hurt so bad I wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. The lax finally kicked in and with the bowel movement there was also a bit of blood. Again, thought it was my period so I didn't think much of it. Now I'm checking and my last period was May 21-23. So it wasn't my period.

The stomach pains are gone today. Should I be worried?

TL;DR: I took three lax and even after 9 hours a bowel movement didn't happen. I got horrible stomach pains and when the bowel movement finally happened there was a bit of blood. I assumed I just got my period and that was the reason for the pain, but now I realize that wasn't the case. Did the lax do serious damage?

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Lax abuse can cause bleeding from time to time, but it's not a huge deal. If the bleeding consists then go to the hospital. So keep your eye on your stool for the next few days, but blood every now and again isn't a huge deal. Be careful darling, lax abuse is not something you want to get into... take it from someone who takes 20+ a day, it's one of the worst addictions to have.

It kinda freaked me out because if it was bloody stool I'd be like, okay lax...I get it, you mess with my stomach. But it was in the urine which confused me and made me think I was on my period or something but I'm not.

Either way, I'm seriously going to stop taking lax. I know I said this to myself before, but this was seriously the most pain I've ever been in. I never want to go through that again.

Please stay safe. Try to reduce the lax you take, even if only one less a week. I'm scared for you, 20+ a day can't be safe.

I'm trying. Got bad lax poisoning 1-2 weeks ago. Was hauled up in bed for 6 days. Never want to go through that torture again.

Honestly, there was a time where I could easily push 80-100 a day, and it'd leave me laying in my bed in fetal position from the pain. I find that if I really take too many, it'll actually make me dry heave after a few hours (probably trying to reject the pills, since they're slow-acting). Then there's the blood, I've had it in my vomit, in my stool etc.

I think if you're taking them every day, it can build up in your system, which can really make you sick. I find that drinking a lot of tea and coffee helps for some reason, perhaps because they flush things out?

Stay safe, dear.

The stomach cramps are a common symptom of taxing stimulant laxatives. How they work is that they irritate your intestines, causing your body to wanting to expel it, so it will send it to the colon as waste - irritating your organs and GI tract along the way. Also if you've taken Dulcolax within one hour of consuming milk and dairy, it causes even greaten stomach pain.

Also as it's been said, drinking a hot cup of coffee will activate your bowels pretty much immediately the next morning.

I don't know anything about having blood in the stool, but that sounds scary. Please stay safe.
