I used to be able to eat 500 calories a day or less , no problem. Now I’m struggling to restrict 1000 and it’s driving me fucking insane. Like what the fuck is wrong with me.

Nothing is wrong with you. Your body is hungry, it has nothing to do with your "willpower".

At this point you have to try out different things and see what works best. Honor your hunger, increase your intake, give yourself a max. number of calories a week instead of a day or adopt an IF program instead of sticking to a calorie limit.

saaame! i used to do 300 to 400cal days, no problem. i remember whole days no eating, no problem. i remember a couple of absolutely EFFORTLESS almost week long fasts. now i have to up it to in between 600 and 900 cal and its fucking with me to not be able to fast anymore but at the same time its a struggle to keep it even that low.

Literally just logged in to make this post. I spent so many years high restricting at 800-1200 (2 meals and a snack) without any bingeing ever, but I bumped up to 1400-1700 for the past 6 months to maintain where I was, and as of the past like, month, I can’t go back to restricting at all, because when I eat a “normal size” (~3-400cal) meal I end up bingeing my days calories in one sitting. Ive noticed if I skip normal size meals, and just make myself go with a slice of low cal bread and butter or something boring during meal time, I have better chance of being able to restrict and not get ravenous and make it through the day. I just figured that out. Really frustrating. And So scared of the weight gain.

I can relate so much to this omg. A few years ago, I used to be able to low restrict for months at a time with ease. I was able to not eat at all for a few days in a row. I was also way more active back then. Now I can't go past 3pm without eating, and I can't function without eating at least 800 calories a day. Idk what I did differently back then to be able to restrict so low and function well at the same time :(

I’m in the same boat, it’s been absolute hell. I’m getting better at restricting again but I don’t have the same amount of control I used to. Even with more motivation than ever lol. I think reducing my intake slowly despite how much I hate it has really helped!
