Well if anything I lost on abilify… I switched from seroquel it's the best stuff that makes me not eat. (as opposed to what seroquel do in the complete different end of spectrum)
Hmm interesting, I have lost some of my appetite so far too. And I noticed that sweets disgust me ! Also which was stronger for you abilify or seroquel?

If i know a medicine could cause weight gain i dont take it. Now sometimes in the past i had no way to get out of taking it. So when that happened i reminded myself everyday its known to cause weight gain and i made sure when i ate it was healthier foods. If i felt the need to eat more or binge it was usually vegetables because you can only eat so much of those.

Its the #1 reason why I had to stop taking it. I gained a bunch, real fast.

Yea I miss sweets but like I don't wanna eat it. I find myself can't eat them but always watching baking videos

i Feel like seroquel is stronger but it can be because of the dosage too

OK the thing about baking videos is that they are perfect for helping with the cravings!! But with abilify there are no such cravings for me , only savory ones , and I used to have a sweet tooth.

Easier said than done. This medication increases people's appetites like crazy.

I'm also on one of the meds that everyone complains of gaining weight on & I count calories and stay below my tdee at all times but I haven't gained anything (yet). I was just retaining water for a while and couldn't pee... thought I was putting on fat but people told me I looked the same. then when everything stabilised in the body, my body stopped retaining water and I started losing again. I had to be extra strict with myself about not allowing myself to eat. My doctor told me I had depression and anxiety fro physiological reasons- that i absolutely needed to correct it or it'll damage my brain. I started getting tactile delusions (feelings of being touched, like my insides were shaking for a while.)... so I didn't care about gaining weight i just wanted them gone.

I also did a low carb diet for a while so that I don't feel as ravenous. It helped a bit.

Hahaha I'm opposite. My savoury cravings are all gone but sweet ones stays LOL. I don't have an appetite for all foods in general tho like I just lost the desire to eat overall

as I was told, the medicine itself does not make you gain weight, it just makes you feel less full when eating, so just keep to your restriction plan and you'll be fine<3 it's VERY important to take your meds (I'm on abilify too and it helped me TREMENDOUSLY)
Update I already feel it helps me, I'm really better!! <3
+ haven't gained any weight and I'm on my 4th week so far with high restricting and t.w. some binges.

Just because an antipsychotic (or any medication really) lists weight gain as a side effect does not mean you will experience said side effect. Try the medication, and if you are experiencing rapid weight gain then talk to the doctor that prescribed it. Do not quit the medication cold turkey without consulting your doctor. You can ask to try a different medication if you do experience rapid weight gain.

People who experience weight gain on antipsychotic medications usually experience hunger, and don't control their eating. Obviously that's easier said than done.
