I just got prescribed fluoxetine (prozac) 10mg and was on it years ago but can't remember if it affected my appetite or weight at all. I'm scared it's gonna make me really hungry like lexapro and abilify did :(

I remember it had suppressed my appetite pretty well. I can say that when I was talking to the therapist that prescribed it I said weight gain and uncontrollable hunger was a big fear for me and I wouldn't take it if that was one of the side effects (I had already gained 80 pounds back from an IP and didn't want to gain anything more).

But yeah I would go all day without eating and not be bothered by it, which is not my normal. Usually I'm very hungry all the time and just deal with it. And it's been about the only medicine that actually helped my depression and anxiety.

Prozac was only antidepressants that didn't cause me weight gain and I've been on a whole lot of different ones.If anything it actually reduced my appetite which I've heard many others say also. That's my experience anyways give it a go and see you can always stop if it does and it might make you feel better.

I was on 20mg for just over 6 months, and I lost about 6kg in the first three months, which my doctor paid no attention to so I'm guessing it wasn't his first rodeo with something like that happening. To be fair I was really down during the whole thing so idk if i was eating or not, I never lost weight normally, and the whole experience was pretty cloudy because I was quite dissociated the whole time.

If anything it will suppress your appetite. It's often used to suppress binge drives in people with bulimia.
