welcome to my art thread :]
(interactions more than welcome)
Thank you !!!!!! And the project was quite open, but we had to research and explain a neuroscientific mechanism, and then make a creative metaphor for it. I ended up discussing, surprising absolutely nobody, the genetic propensities behind development of anorexia (looking at why only a small portion of people seem to be biologically triggered by energy deficits in a culture where weight loss culture is more than common) :> I focused specifically on a biochemical chain reaction, in which a mutation occurs at the locus for an enzyme called HDAC4 (histone deacetylase 4), that results in overexpression, which ends up suppressing a nuclear receptor protein called ESRRA (estrogen related receptor alpha), which plays a key role in mediating mitochondrial metabolism during energy deficits. so basically when the mutation occurs it's significantly more likely that a person will be triggered into abnormal metabolic states (which are closely corelated with the development of AN - since people are beginning to consider it as a possibly metabolic disorder at its root). I wrote soooo much on it but I don't wanna ramble or retype it lol . anyway I made a metaphor using a fantasy ecosystem where different creatures represented different proteins and genes in the chain of events of HDAC4 mutation :>this is fantastic!!! what was the project? i love neuroscience
I think to hide it, you just manually remove it from the quote, and to spoiler you have to dobtw how do you hide images when quoted?i don't know how to do that or spoil things
The improvement is INSANE!!I redid a doodle from 2021, and woaaaaa , it's amazing how positively drawing for myself instead of drawing for others impacted my style. if it's not obvious from the 2021 version I was a victim of those stupid how to draw manga tutorial books and just. the general hype around the "anime" art style . I have absolutely nothing against the latter because it is a gorgeous style, but I feel like the overhyping pushes MANY starting artists into a sort of peer pressure state where they feel like they have to emulate what they perceive to be popular in order to have worth as an artist. anyway, it's nice to see how far I've come! (even if I still have so much further to go)

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE??? ...it was made in a research facility , when a scientist was very hungry and dropped an ebi katsu (from their lunch that they were eating in the fucking lab because they were greedy and stupid) into a vat of embryonic fluid that had a genetically modified canine fetus inside. they were still very very hungry so they reached inside the vat but they couldn't reach it (very sad!) so they gave up; what they didn't know was the fetus which had eyes and could see (because it was a fucked up little science creature) saw the hand. with the power of fictionally misrepresented stem cell technology, magic, and Puppy Love and Whimsicality , the canine embryo fused with the ebi katsu and also decided to grow human hands because it liked the way they looked. thus, Dog was born (?))
Ahhh i love this aesthetic of decoration!!! I wish i could do smth like that on my sketchbook but it always turns out way too clean TwTok so its not EXACTLY art but I wanted to post my computer because it took me a while to decorate, and I'm quite proud of the way it ended up 😁😁 think of it as collage, lol
