Does Diet Soda count as your daily water intake?

I almost never drink plain water, it is just unpalatable and unappealing to me.
But I do drink at least 1L of Diet Soda (Pepsi or Coke) on a daily basis.
Can I count this as a part of my water intake for the day?

I don’t know if it can be considered water, but definitely a fluid. I’d suggest trying some water flavorings and mixes if you can, not drinking enough water can be super dangerous and takes a toll on pretty much your whole body.

caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it dehydrates you. now, soda or most teas don't have enough caffeine in them to completely counteract the water in the beverage, so it still hydrates you somewhat. just not as much as water would. you probably should be making sure you get extra fluids in general if you are having a lot of caffeine.

Nooooooo please don’t get this idea. You need actual water. Your pee should not be smelly and dark. You need water. Even if it’s a sparkling water, add some mio if u desperately need it. But y’all do not go around saying it’s ok to replace your water with soda bc it’s “a fluid”. Drink. Water. I’m sorry you don’t like it, but your body requires it and I promise u 100 it will make you feel better. Drink some freakin water. Now! Go do it!

oversimplifies a tad — you're right to say being coke-only isn't ideal, and absolutely right to recommend adding flavours to water, but if someone sincerely can't stomach anything else, relying on other fluids is okay when the alternative is not drinking anything at all. water is always the best choice but any fluid [barring alcohol] is better than none. any danger related to carbonated or sweetened drinks is less immediately damaging than the real, common and basically-guaranteed effects of dehydration

while I agree that it's better to drink soda than to drink nothing at all, consuming lots of diet soda has so many potential side effects that it's not that far from alcohol in terms of being harmful to one's health (at least in my opinion). plain water is still necessary
I’m going to second what Erase has said.
and also add, there are different options for fluid than soda. Water rules, obviously, because science.
However, I deeply advise OP to chill out on the soda. There’s other fluid options if u sincerely refuse water, but soda/caffeinated beverages are not gonna do you very good. Regardless of whether you can immediately tell rn or not. Be well. 🙏
