Doctors telling you wrong height?

Has anyone had a doctor tell them an incorrect height? I've always thought I was 5'7 (I'm an above average height female) and I date a guy around 5'5

BUT today the student health center told me I'm only 5'5. This would put my bmi at 18.8 instead of 17.5....

I'm not super thin but I definitely don't think my bmi is 18.8. Now my brain is going crazy and I feel a need to compensate so much more has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah I know exactly how you feel. I got measured once when I was at the doctors office for a bone scan during ED treatment, and I've always measured at 5'10, but this nurse insisted I was 5'8, which of course made my bmi go up a lot. I was so upset, I couldn't stop crying over it but now I realize how irrational it was because they can easily measure you wrong.

If you've consistently measured as 5'7, go with that.

If they measured your ht then they have to be correct! Were you always in bare feet every time? Even flip flops will give a person some ht.

I have a friend that insists she is 5'3. I am 4'9. When i stand face to face I am about to her top of her lips or nose area. There is a big difference between the two. Ppl can get very touchy about ht and wt.

I've always been bare feet & my BF measured at 5'6 last time he was measured & is listed as 5'6 on his license. I'm at least an inch taller

I wouldn't get too upset over an inch!

Well it's 2 inches and changed my bmi from 17.5 to 18.8

I am 4'9 and would die just to be 5 feet tall . It really doesn't take much for the bmi to go up or down. Just go by the bmi you are comfortable with or the numbers u get at your Drs office.

I can understand the attachment to numbers for sure. I have chronic kidney disease and my dr keeps an eye on my blood pressure. When i get bp taken in the ER I find nurses are too lazy to take accurate blood pressure. One number for blood pressure is never accurate. Proper blood pressure is a cycle of 6 with a average. Hospitals never bother with that. When i get an average in the drs office I get 120/80. When i just do 1 I can easily get 135/89. So completely inaccurate. I find the nurse at the hospital where I live are super lazy. 2 times I was there with an extremely heavy period. I was there for 3 hrs never once had a nurse check on me. Passed 70 clots in 3 hrs.

doctors always measure wrong! when I was 15 I measured 5'5.5" and then grew to a little over 5'6" which I have measured at consistently. then just last month at the SAME doctor I went to when I was 15, I measured 5'5 even. I don't think it's right

I used to have verr bad posture. When I go to get measured I put both my hands up over my head and clasp my hands together.
I was measured at 5'6" in school. Then at doctor's decided I grew to 5'6" snd a half. Its possible I did, I was still young teens.
Then they said I was just shy of 5'7". So I got my fam to measure and I'm truly almost 5'7".

I understand that teens who were malnourished can grow when they recover, even if they are in their in 40's.

So u can get taller for many years with good nourishment later. Plus restore muscle, bones and reproductive capacity.

ive been told many things by many doctors, 5'5,5'6,5'7,5'9 the list goes on. I just try to average it out, or go with what ive been told the most, but its up to you.

Ugh I was so irritated one time when the nurse measured me at 5'5.75" like... no! I'm 5'6"!! I have been since high school!!! I know I slouched a little bit so it was definitely wrong but I didn't know if I could ask her for a re-measure so I had to let it go.
