Birth control that doesn't cause weight gain?

I'm seriously considering birth control as I'm in a new relationship, don't want to get pregnant, and would love to not have to make him wear a condom. I also have hirsutism (excessive female body hair) and I've read birth control is a common way to minimize it. But I really don't want to be put on a bc that will cause me to gain weight. I feel like my doctor won't be honest with me because she probably thinks it's better for me to avoid unwanted pregnancy than to gain a few pounds.

Does anyone here us BC and find it doesn't cause weight gain?

I’ve been on a Yaz generic (continuous so I can skip my periods) for over a decade and never found it made me gain weight, personally. I do think it made my boobs a bit bigger though and helped to preserve them throughout my many ED related weight fluctuations lol. And by “bigger” I mean denser breast tissue, not just excess fat.

Most birth controls only cause excessive water retention for the first 1-3 months, so it's not actually fat unless you start eating way more, sometimes they do make you store more fat in your chest though

I've been on alysena for 2 years and since then I've lost a significant amount of weight (it's Bounced around a lot but my bmi is currently 14. And I'm still on it )

First of all, good job on taking control and being responsible with your body <3

Everyone reacts differently to hormonal medication. I personally did not gain weight (lost weight while on the pill and still going strong) but I have friends who did gain. I got all the "good" side effects (perkier boobs, clear skin, predictable lighter periods and less mood swings) but I know someone who experienced increased anxiety because of the pill.
Try the pill for a month or two and see how you react to it.
If it works, great! If there are side effects, try another form of birth control.
The important thing is that you are being safe and responsible, which you are already doing.

I’ve been taking Isibloom the pill for 13 years and I was actually at my lowest weight (BMI 14.8) while on it. I always ask my doctor if it can cause an increase in appetite because really that’s what makes you gain weight in the long run. It hasn’t been an issue for me.

Same situation, just 5 years of continuous usage ethinylestradiol/drospirenon. I've experienced the boob thing too.

I did find it increased my appetite when I started but later I didn't seem to notice any direct effect. It's possible that I imagined the increased hunger as I tend to overthink how any medication will affect my weight :/

All hormonal contraceptives can cause weight gain. The Paragard (copper) IUD is the only bc (in the US) that is hormone free and will not impact your weight.

I've been on paragard (copper IUD) for about 7 years and had no issues.

Though, a few months ago I finally went to the gyno about PMS symptoms. I have really bad bloating, anxiety and lethargy the week before my period and wanted to try something hormonal to make that week more tolerable. She put me on Slynd, a new progestin only pill. I've had a really good experience so far! No PMS week or bloating and theoretically I should lose my period entirely after a few months.
