"Even though I was perfectly healthy, at one point I was even told I had thunder thighs which was another catalyst for my weight loss.
"My weight was perfectly fine but I didn't realise that then, I was determined to become a better dancer so I started over-exercising without eating anything at all.

Katy continues: 'At primary school, we'd had a friend who had lost a lot of weight. She was anorexic at nine, so we knew a little about the illness.
'For some reason, instead of feeling repulsed by the illness, it held a weird attraction for us - and when we saw those thinner twins, we wanted to be like them and our mother.
'Maria started keeping a food diary and would jot down everything we ate, our weight and how much exercise we'd done. We started skipping breakfast and exercising fanatically, doing 50 lengths of the pool in the morning and gymnastics after school.
'We weren't vomiting, just exercising a lot, but we never even felt faint. In fact, when we were losing weight so quickly, we got an incredible adrenaline high that made us want to lose even more.'
This pact saw the girls' weight drop by more than a stone in 12 months.

'We had a system where we'd starve ourselves for six days, only eating 400 calories precisely a day - ten pieces of pic 'n' mix, an orange, a banana and a diet cola,' says Katy. 'Then, on the final day, we'd eat anything and everything we could get our hands on - bread, pasta, crisps, cakes.'

A college student who vowed to look like model Kendall Jenner lost so much weight doctors warned she could die if she took a shower.
Katie Hogg weighed just five stone after starving herself of calories to copy the 21-year-old Kardashian star - whose diet was reportedly 12 cups of detox tea a day and raw vegetables.
The anorexic 20-year-old was eventually admitted to an eating disorder unit where specialists told her she was so weak her heart may fail if she showered due to a fast change in temperature.
But the anorexic student, from Lincoln, has now made a full recovery and is training to compete in bikini competitions. READ MORE

The 20-year-old was horrified when she was admitted to hospital and put straight in a wheelchair(Photo: Cavendish Press)
She said: "I was horrified when I was admitted to the unit and put straight into a wheelchair.
"The doctor told me walking would cause too much strain - and I couldn't shower as the change in temperature could cause my heart to fail.
"I was skin and bones. Apparently, I wouldn't have survived another week without medical help."
At 5ft 6in, Katy had weighed a healthy 8st 5lb, but at 17 she began wanting to look like stick thin celebrities and the weight fell off as she began to cut out carbs.
She eventually began living on a breakfast of black coffee and fruit for lunch.
She said: "My life was so full of stress and worry - people like Kendall Jenner seemed to have it all.
"I'd pore over her Instagram and social media accounts, dreaming of having stick-thin legs and a gorgeous figure like her.
"More than anything I wanted a thigh gap like hers.
"She was always so cool and in control. I wanted more than anything to be like that. READ MORE

Katie said she even avoided family meals, telling her mum Caroline she had coursework to do when dinner was being served up.
"She would let me eat in my bedroom, and once I was out of sight, I'd scrape the food into a bag in my room, and bin it when I left the next day," she said.
But as Katy's thigh gap widened, her friends and teachers began to take notice.
In April 2014, a teacher called Katy into her office, and began to question why she looked so gaunt.
The concerned teacher phoned home, and Katy's mum rushed her to their GP.
After being referred to an eating disorder clinic and weighed, it was discovered Katy was underweight at 7st 5lb.
Nurses told Caroline that her daughter was anorexic, and she was put onto a diet plan of 800 calories a day.
Katy said: "I still looked at my jutting shoulder blades and xylophone ribs, and saw layers of fat.
"My weight continued to decrease, and I fell behind with my studies as I struggled to focus on work."
But she continued to frequent 'pro-anorexia' websites and Instagram accounts, and barely slept.

It wasn't until August that year that Katy had a wakeup call, in the form of a stumble down a flight of stairs.
She said: "I tripped carrying some washing, and hit a vase at the bottom of our staircase.
"I thought I'd just scratched myself, but there was so much blood.
"At the hospital, doctors said I had no body fat to protect me, so the cut had reached muscle.
"The tiny scratch would leave a permanent scar... Mum begged me then to let the doctors help, and I agreed."
In September 2014 Katy was admitted to eating disorder unit Rharian Fields, in Grimsby, as an inpatient.
After a week, she was allowed to shower, and after three weeks she was free of her wheelchair.
It was February 2015 before Katy was allowed to leave, weighing a healthy 9st 2lb. She felt like her old self as she slipped back into her size 8 clothes.

A typical day for the 20-year-old now consists of five meals a day but before she starved herself on 250 calories (Photo: Cavendish Press)
And in February this year Katy contacted a personal trainer, determined to improve her body-image even more.
She began lifting weights daily, and now eats five meals a day and dreams of competing in bikini competitions.
Katy is now studying to be a personal trainer and dietitian, and wants to help other young people suffering with eating disorders.
She said: "At my worst, I wanted help so much, but anorexia had a hold of me and I couldn't do it on my own.
"I'm so grateful for all the support I've had, and although recovery was difficult, it was so worth it.
"Right now, I'm the happiest and healthiest I've ever been."

It sounds really stupid, but sometimes I make myself sleep so I don't have to eat. Like I'll go the day without eating and once the hunger becomes too much, I'll take some Xanax or Benadryl to put me to sleep so I won't be tempted. I feel kind of pathetic, though, like I should be able to control myself better. [/background]

Has anyone ever felt this?
I just realized one week I took Benadryl each night and that was a week that (with ease) I barely ate anything .
And I just took one pill to relax a little before bed and usually I am holding back my appetite at this time but I am not interested in eating ...

I just golfed it and it said it is a side effect

From: Thigh gap success!

Two weeks ago I had no thigh gap.. literally they were like whales, even when I stood up... it was disgusting!! But I started targeting my thighs majorly recently and I managed to get a gap all the way!! I have been cycling for 12km a day and then doing 10 toe touches, 20 lunges, 30 squats, 40 seconds of sitting toe touch and a minute of wall sit. I have been doing this everyday and it really seems to have worked!!! has anyone else tried anything that has worked really well???

cycling/biking gives you thigh gap

Will ridding a bike give me that "thigh gap"? ?

I have a small one already but I want it bigger, any ideas?

If I can do it by biking how long should I bike for?

Thanks! :)

weight loss tips and tricks

http://theanorexicbeauty.tripod.com/id6.html

There are 3500 calories in a pound. It is considered safe to lose 1-2lbs a week, or more if you are very obese. In order to lose 1 pound a week subtract 500 calories from the BMR you calculated earlier(including the activity calories you added). If you want to lose 2 pounds then you subtract 1000 calories. In order to achieve this you will need to use a combination of eating less, doing cardiovascular exercises(cardio), and a strength training routine.
(From now on I am going to use as an example somebody whose daily calories burned is 2000 calories, and who wants to lose 2lbs a week.)

4.) So the first thing to determine is how much to eat. Since they want to lose 2lbs they would subtract 500 calories from their daily calories burned to equate to 1lb a week. That means that they will be eating 1500 calories a day. In order to assure you are getting all the nutrition you need, use the food pyramid as a general guide to what to eat during the day, and take a daily multivitamin supplement. For a multivitamin I recommend any product that fits your lifestyle from the "One A Day" brand.

5.) For the other pound they are going to burn off 500 calories with exercise. You should do a cardio exercise to burn off most of these, such as jogging or swimming. It will usually take 30-60 minutes of jogging to burn 500 calories, but I suggest investing in a calorie counting pedometer so that you can be sure. In addition to cardio, you are going to want to do a strength training routine around 3 times a week. The exercise website I have linked above will no doubt have a perfect routine for just about anybody. Strength training is important because it helps build muscles, which will help you stay at a lower weight by burning more calories throughout the day and raising your BMR. Women, you will not gt bulky with a 3 day a week simple strength training routine. But you might get flabby without one.

I LOVE excersise and admit to becoming a little addicted over the last year. I find myself needing to go to the gym at least twice and that's not including 1-2 hours of at home Pilates. it's kind of like once you see you can have a mass calorie deficit and you can manage to restrict and excersise like this it's kind of like a drug. it's also helped my calories become more nutrious? like I know it would be better for my workout and give me more fuel to workout longer to eat 600 cals worth of fruits and veg rather than junk food and stuff.

I used to be consumed by the compulsion to exercise before I was shoved into treatment. It nearly killed me. Jogging on the treadmill on high incline for an hour or more, through shin splints, every morning. Biking and hooping with my weighted hula-hoop for hours every day. Fitting in exercise wherever I could. The counting of repititions and steps and the rythmic movements were so soothing too. I don't miss falling on the floor every morning with leg and foot cramps/spasms from hell from electrolyte imbalances though. I once did 8 hours of cardio in a single day. I thought my heart was going to explode, but I couldn't stop. This time around I *WISH* I had just a little of that motivation back again. It's so hard to get off of my fat ass now.

I don't always all my calories (though I am always restircting), but I am always exercising. At least an hour at the gym everyday, even when my legs are so sore I can hardly walk. Then it carries over when I get home, doing various other work outs while watching tv or playing on my laptop.

Think about a munching on a bag of your favorite potato chips. Let that image sit in your brain for a little while. How does it feel? Are you craving chips right now? Sometimes, a single mention of a word is all it takes to trigger a craving, and unfortunately, cravings often entice you to do things that aren't good for you. What if you could change that?

In this post, we'll take a look at how you can rewire your brain and use those cravings to your advantage.
We deal with cravings on a daily basis, but-whether you're craving something as simple as a bag of potato chips or as abstract as a shopping experience-the basic science behind your cravings is the same. Before we can look into how you can use that science to better yourself, we have to understand how cravings work on a physical and psychological level.
To help, I talked with two experts in the field of desire and self control: Assistant Professor Wilhelm Hofmann from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Dr. Kelly McGonigal, Stanford University psychologist and author of The Willpower Instinct: How Self-Control Works, Why it Matters, and What You Can Do to Get More of It. Let's start by taking a look at the science behind cravings. What Are Cravings and How to They Work?

According to Dr. McGonigal, a craving is an experience where we not only want something, but we need it. Mr. Hofmann explains their origins:
[Cravings] originate from reward-processing activity in the brain (we'll go into detail on reward-processing in the next section). Then they become conscious, that is, integrated with a feeling of "longing" and elaborated on with conscious thoughts (including motivated reasoning on why it might be a good idea to enact the craving).
Let's return to that bag of potato chips. We picture the reward of eating them, then feel a longing for them, then eventually, eat the whole bag. Cravings work in reverse order from acting them out. Even cravings we typically associate with a physical feeling, like cigarettes or drugs, are thought to originate in the brain before the body. Let's take a closer look at the role of physical and the psychological aspects in our cravings. Photo by Aviva West. Physical Cravings
Physical cravings aren't as abundant as we probably think. Essentially, we crave something the body has gotten used to, whether that means cigarettes, food, alcohol, or anything else. A study published in The Journal of Abnormal Psychology suggests that smoking, long assumed a physical addiction, is more related to a craving formed from the habit and originating in the brain. Physical addictions do exist, but unless it's related to drugs, most of us don't have a close relation to the feeling of a real physical addiction.

As for the evolutionary reasoning? Dr. McGonigal suggests cravings were initially about survival, which meant just two things: surviving, (eating and drinking), and reproduction (survival of genes). The body and brain learned to crave what it needed to survive, but over time, those same survival traits leaked into the rest of our lives and we developed cravings to consume things we don't inherently need.
Since most of us deal with psychological cravings daily, let's take a look at how they work, where they come from, and how your brain tricks you into needing things. Psychological Cravings

Psychological cravings include the feeling you get when you suddenly realize you want a Sloppy Joe or an entire bag of salt and vinegar chips. Two systems in our brains create and tell us how to react to cravings:
  1. First, the reward system identifies a target and causes the brain to release dopamine. This makes the brain believe it will get happiness or pleasure from what you're craving. This desire for immediate gratification blocks your prefrontal cortex from weighing your long-term goals against the craving. You know the classic image of the angel and the devil on the shoulder? That's essentially your brain when you are deciding if you're going to fold to the pressure of a craving. Your craving is the devil, only thinking about short-term rewards, and the angel is your prefrontal cortex, pleading for you to consider the long-term ramifications.
  2. Next, your body releases stress hormones that make you feel discomfort or pain. The stress essentially tricks the body into believing the only way to feel better is to succumb to the craving.
According to Dr. McGonigal, the brain can learn to attach the promise of reward to almost anything. If your brain believes that something is going to make you happy, your brain can initiate the craving response. One study from the University of Maryland connects compulsive technology usage to the same parts of your brain as cravings, another from the journal NeuroImage suggests drug cravings are no different from food, shopping, or other cravings. Mr. Hoffmann agrees, but points out the science is still a little fuzzy:
Many researchers claim that anything that is highly rewarding for somebody can elicit strong cravings, because the reward center has "learned" to anticipate the pleasure it brings about. So, anticipated reward is, in a sense, the "common currency" of the brain by which various activities are evaluated.
Knowing how cravings work isn't enough to really understand how it affects you personally. Let's see how you can experiment on yourself a little and dissect your own craving response. Test Your Own Cravings

We all think we know what it really feels like to crave something, but we likely never look closely at the variety of emotions we feel from the moment the idea is planted in our head to the moment we overindulge on an entire bag of chips. Dr. McGonigal shares this exercise that she runs her students through to teach them mindfulness:

Take a food you have a false promise of reward with (potato chips, a box of Girl Scout cookies, whatever). Eat as much as you can and notice how you go from being happy to feeling stuffed or sick afterwards. Pay attention to every emotion you go through. Notice how the taste of the food changes as you move through the bag. The goal is to show you that even after you eat an entire bag, you're not satisfied. But when you're stuffed and feeling gross, your brain is still telling you to crave the food you just ate. The goal of the exercise is to rewire your memory and tie the craving with the consequence, not the reward.
So, we've got an idea of how cravings work in the brain and in our bodies. We've run through the exercise above and have a good idea of how they work specifically in our own bodies, but what can we do with this information? Let's take a look at the ways you can rewire your brain to not just overcome cravings, but also use them to your advantage. Photo by Kelly.

WATER FASTING and Cellulite - Day 4.5

Hello everyone
I am planning on being on a water fast for approximately.. 12 days or so. I am currently on day 4.5.

I absolutely LOVE food. I have crazy cravings and this has been a long journey of me finally doing a water fast. I had done intermediate fasting... being vegas... raw till 4... you name it ..EVERYTHING. I even do cardio and some other exercises but my cellulite just never went away. Id say im 110pounds too. Anyway... finally the other day i was triggered by a kitkat video and it made me eat 2 chocolate bars. I was so upset about that and somehow my research fell into reading about cellulite and fasting. from my research...fasting is pretty much the only resolution to getting rid of cellulite because toxins are push into fat cells and thats what makes cellulite even worse and it is ONLY during fasting that your body can get rid of these toxins. IMPORTANTLY... id like to point out that I am not only doing this for weigh/loss and cellulite reduction but also for spiritual purposes too. I want to cleanse my body from all the toxic food I fed it for many many years.. I want my body to become healthy and lighter. Theres SO MUCH RESEARCH that fasting is SO great for you and it HEALS your body but obviously for a certain period of time. Starvation is only when u fast for so many days 70 days +++ that ur body starts to break down vital organs for energy. This never happens on a fast of 10-30+ days.

PLEASE READ: http://falconblanco.com/health/fasting.htm

Anyway... from day 1 its been hard but I was working so it was easy on me. I had many cravings but I sticked to it. Im on day 4ish now and woke up extremely exhausted and no energy but that went away fast. Also I see that I have lots a lot of weight and my abs are showing. I am SUPER happy. I also finally tried dry-brushing today too.

Anyway.. I have a week to go and by then i am positive tht my body will be SUPER and my cellulite will be extremely reduced! and I have to say...if I drank diet coke or had fruits.. this fast would have been broken. The whole point is to not eat ANYTHING but drink water. If you eat... than u may 99.9% break the fast.

I'll keep u all posted!
